On Thursday afternoon, Benjamin made the mistake of leaving his brand new camera out on his desk when he went to the bathroom, so Mike and I picked it up and took a bunch of "secret photos" for him to find later. This one made me laugh so hard that I took a picture of the picture so I'd have a copy of it on my camera. Meta!
After almost dying on my bike ride to work on Thursday morning (a big truck pulled over into my bike lane and almost smooooshed against a row of parked cars), I decided to stop being an idiot and went to the bike store during lunch and bought a helmet.
Hahaha. She pretty much nailed it her very first time! I like how she combined the "NJ-Guido Brow-Furrow" with the "Staten Island Mouth-Pout." A very effective combo!
Meredith caught Vin and I taking one of our signature "Tough Guy" photos that we've been doing as joke since at least 1998, and wanted to give being a "tough guy" a shot.
...our rental car's hood started lifting up! Scary! I the hood wasn't latched down and as we picked up speed going down the highway, the wind started trying to flip it up!
...my friend Emilie's mom that I'd met once back in April of 2004 when I went to go see Emilie's photography show! And the crazy thing is, she totally remembered me too! (here's the pic from the only other time we met!). We hung out in the back of the plane and chatted and then before long...
This guy's ready for bed! (By the way, the awesome Misfits + Alfred E. Neuman shirt was given to me by Amy K when she was the manager of the aNYthing store for a little while. Thanks, Amy! I'll miss the Teenage Unicorn so bad!)
Then I made sure I could use my new camera to take pictures of myself where you can't really tell that I'm the one holding the camera. (Which is important when you travel by yourself!)
A week later I got a call from Alysha who was in town visiting from San Francisco! We went to Veselka and got our latke and pierogi on...and then headed over to the basement of Lit for some Sunday night karaoke action!
On Monday night, Meredith and I went to NINJA for a birthday dinner with her parents! Here's me (doing my best ninja impression) with the birthday girl!
...I gave her a vigorous rubbing with a towel which she actually seemed to like a lot. (The Bad One, however, turned out to pretty much HATE taking a bath and scratched the shit out of my arm when she tried using it to climb up out of the water!)
Early in the month I had found out that Erica Bryndza (who I went to high school with) worked right down the street from me in Soho! So on Wednesday we met up for lunch! It was the first time I'd seen her in like 10 years! Crazy!
On my way home from work on Friday, I stopped at Patagonia and picked up this totally awesome winter coat, because Big Blue (the winter jacket that was a hand-me-down from my dad that he bought in 1970!) just wasn't keeping me warm anymore. Goodbye, Big Blue. Hello, Bigger and Bluer!
After spending a few minutes sitting in a chair in the restaurant's lobby making sure I felt better, I hailed a cab and headed home. I took this picture of "fainting goat" me as soon as I got inside. Sorry I missed your birthday dinner, Ellen! Hahahah.
John Roche and Mike Doyle (who was in town visiting from San Francisco). PS - What's with the "hip hop hands" again? I guess I was feeling big pimpin' back then.
My friend Amy K has a "no photos after 4am" policy. I always used to chastise her for being a baby, but now that I'm looking at this picture of myself throwing up "hip hop hands" while wearing a vulture mask that's timestamped 4:47am, I'm beginning to see where she's coming from.
Let's start off the brand new year with a really, really disturbing photo of me! On Wednesday I went to the eye doctor to get new contact lenses and she gave me those eye drops that make your pupils dilate so that she could check my retinas. Look how creepy they make your eyes look! Ew!
My Uncle Bruce is a gadget guy - he always has the latest toys! He'd recently gotten a new plasma flatscreen so my dad was only too happy to take Bruce's older HDTV off his hands...and Brett and I were the lucky ones who got to carry the 300lb monster down the stairs...
On Monday night I admired some of the holiday ornaments Meredith made during her latest craft-obsession. Here's a star, a dog and the bead-ornament version of the two of us! Hahaha!
Later that evening, we took the subway up to Times Square because my parents wanted to see the picture of Meredith and I on the side of the MTV building. (It was the first time either Meredith or I had seen it too!)
This night was probably one of the best karaoke nights I've ever been to (and I've been to A LOT of karaoke). Pretty much every single person that hit the stage went full-out and sang their heart out. So when it was finally my turn to sing, I knew I had no choice but to go with some Jovi.
...a motherfucking STAGE DIVE into the crowd! Thanks again to Brad Walsh for being there with a camera, otherwise this moment would've been lost to history forever!
..."Somebody who just had a REALLY SERIOUS aneurysm!" (Worst Halloween costume EVER, I know!) But we told people that they should come in a costume and I at least had to pretend like I put in some effort after asking everyone else to dress up!)
Sarah and Gurj had been telling me for weeks that one of Sarah's new interns looked JUST LIKE ME! I was skeptical, but when Gurj introduced me I was sort of like "Whoa, yeah."
