On Thursday evening Jane Anne came over... ...constructing a bed of strategically-placed pillows on the living room floor. Maddy loves to get in on some homemade bed action. I tried to keep my mind off of my cricked-neck with podcasts, strawberry ice pops and cuddling my dog's ass with my head. Happy April 2014! All tuckered out! Took Maddy for a super long walk in the nice spring weather. Hung out with Jane Anne... Sing your dog a song! ...and one for this little egg-fan. Hahahaha. The best. Watching my dog enjoy the sun is one of my favorite things. On Saturday afternoon, Meredith came over to hang out and I ended up breaking out my table and giving her a reiki treatment. Saw Maddy snoozing in the sun and couldn't resist giving her a kiss. She stuck her tongue out at the perfect time! Haha. Everybody all settled in to watch TV and... Oh my god, these superfriends. Meredith was in the neighborhood because she was working on getting her name changed back (Awwww, gain a Battjer - lose a Battjer!) and came over for an afternoon pizza party! ...while falling asleep. This is how I feel about winter by the time that March rolls around. By Tuesday, all the snow had melted and I took Maddy for a nice long walk over to East River Park. All of the trees were ringed with wonderfully-fragrant Christmas tree mulch! Later that night, I took out my suitcase to unpack from my recent trip and I came into the living room to find this heartbreaking scene: Maddy's adorable way of trying to stop me from traveling without her! STOWAWAY! ...Saturday was a warm day and Maddy got to run around and enjoy the melting snow sans-jacket. When you come home late at night and your dog looks at you like WTF. On Sunday afternoon Maddy and I were walking over to the East River Paw on the shoulder! Awwww. Maddy loves when she can nuzzle you from behind. Woke up on the couch in the middle of the night with this tiny beast cuddling my neck. Awww, best buddy. ...starts making her SO SLEEPY. Maddy is terrible at starting contests. She can only last like ten seconds before all the effort... ...that Maddy absolutely cannot pass by without diving in and rolling around with grunty-pleasure. Every January they collect all the Christmas trees in Tompkins Square Park and turn them into giant piles of fragrant mulch... Came home late and stayed up with this one... You know it's cold out when you ask your weiner dog if she wants to go out for a walk... ...and she can barely be bothered to poke her pointy little face out from under the blankets! Ha. Maddy is a big fan of Ellen. Ellen came over for lunch and a hang on Sunday afternoon. How could you resist a face like this? When Maddy wants to be loved she arches her back extra hard and sticks her pointy barrel chest up in the air. Sweetest dog in the world! Matt came over in the evening to receive a reiki treatment from me. Maddy likes to nap between people's feet when they're up on the reiki table! ...and this one! All three! On the very first morning of 2014, Piper & Edie helped keep Ellen cozy while she waited for... ..and only her head was sticking out. Came into the bedroom to find Maddy had made a bed out of a comforter... Mer came over to my place a little after 9pm, and we walked with the dogs over to the West Village... With a wrinkly puppy Maddy doppleganger on the box! Happy 4th birthday to this excellent hound (seen here using a lavender-filled eye-pillow as a dog-pillow). Penelope came over for reiki on Thursday. Maddy likes to be lifted up onto the table so she can tucker down in Leg Alley. Later that night Mer came over to hang and snuggle Maddy sans socks. ...just pictures of Maddy sliding into the room in dog socks witha a concerned look. Hahah. Saddest holiday dog ever! She hate her holiday socks so hard! On Wednesday afternoon I went over to Leigh's house. I don't have any pictures of Leigh... The next morning: So....do you think Biggy is going to call me? Biggy and Maddy also got to spend some quality time together. Ya know what, dad? Parties really wear me out. Smash them all together! Dog pile! ...then spent the afternoon reading on the couch with my buddy. Chilly dog warming up in her Halloween outfit. Dancing with my dog. Maddy wants to kill everything. Maddy likes to watch but needs a little help ...with my terrifying pack of Halloween Hell Hounds! I have had my doctor friends tell me that cold lasers are placebo and don't do anything - but they really seemed to help Maddy's back injury heal quickly and I'm glad I didn't send her in for back surgery! Dachshund infestation! Not impressed. Lazy afternoon. Kissed my convalescent Such an excellent knee-napper. ...and chased this muppet around the apartment. Resting up at home. I got a real hurt back, dad. Maddy's back was still really hurting and my vet referred me to a holistic vet in Chelsea who does animal chiropractic and cold-laser treatments. I was skeptical, but Maddy who'd been quivering in pain for 3 days, started wagging her tail after a few minutes of her first laser treatment. Maddy was hiding out in her crate most of the day because she hurt her back jumping down off my couch! Grant came over in the morning and rescued me... My brother was up in NYC for a work conference and crashed at my place instead of a hotel. This guy enjoys a couch-snuggling with friends. While walking through the park, Maddy got her head stuck in this box while trying to catch a squirrel! Contemplating the error in her ways before sleeping off the perils of squirrel chasing. (Don't worry, her resolve was only strengthened by the incident.) Happy September 2013! This feels so wrong to me. Hey, dad! Squirrel! ...she slowly turned around... ...and went back to sleep like this. Ha! Caught Maddy napping in the sun so hard. After she was done squinting at me... Grant came over Sunday morning to grab some breakfast. ...that you have no choice but to hold a tiny dog and fall asleep on my couch. ...but you can watch as the warm sunshine slowly melts her puppy resolve... Maddy tries so hard to stay awake and maintain eye contact... ...into sleep!
