me

me
Me standing next to one of em.
me
Sooooo neat!
me
Even after seeing it a bunch of times, the views are so beautiful that it literally makes you go "Whooooooa!" every time you see it. I managed to snap this pic of Mer mid-gasp.
me
On Sunday we woke up earlier and decided to do some exploring closer to town.
me
Unnnngh
me
What's that you say? You want me to, uh...
me
Me getting ready to slide across the car all Dukes of Hazard style an' shit.
me
After filling up, we drove back north into town, got some dinner and then went and saw Shaun of the Dead. And afterwards, we went to the Sony store and Meredith got herself...
me
...of one of the sharks we'd seen earlier.
me
Meredith realized that her recent haircut enabled her to do a creepily spot-on impression of me. Later on in the gift shop I did my own impression...
me
Look! I think I can see the Castro from here!
me
Me looking out in the ocean for sea lions.
me
...turns out, people are right! If I hadn't moved out to California, I never would've been able to discover the goodness of Carl Motherfucking Jr's!
me
Me pretending I'm comfortable on the scratchy, thorny, twiggy, lumpy ground.
me
Then we took a quick "windy hair" pic.
me
Here's me picking her up at the airport. See how excited she is? I told you that my Nissan Sentra rental drives the bitches wild! After we'd caught up, I made good on something I'd been promising for weeks...
me
No duet is complete unless I can manage to "back that thang up" a little bit.
me
So after a week of living together, my new roomies and I decided that we were long overdue to head out and hit the town together. We were in our kitchen trying to figure out where we should go when my new roommate Christine uttered nine magnificent words: "Hey, there's a karaoke bar right down the street!" I was like "Shut the fuck up!" Christine replied "No, I'm serious, it's called The Mint and it's one of the biggest karaoke bars in town. They have karaoke every night. It's like 3 blocks from here! And you gotta hear Kareen sing - she's really good." Talk about fate, huh? (You'd think "Where's the nearest karaoke bar?" would've been one of my standard questions while apartment hunting, but I swear it never even came up!).
me
Later that night I met up with Emma! Who was in SF from NYC with her new fiance to attend a friend's wedding.
me
On Friday night, I finally ventured out for my first "social experience" in California when Tara put me in touch with her friend Adrianna who throws a party at a place called Rickshaw Stop.
me
The vein-popping finale.
me
Who knew Grant's hat could so quickly transform Tinny into Debbie Gibson? (PS - Hey Tins, are you even old enough to remember Debbie Gibson? Hahahah).
me
Amy gets pensive while Leigh and I work at having chimp lips.
me
Speaking of fuckers, here's Grant and me. I met this fucker working at Nerve back in the summer of 2001 and aside from his short-lived stint out in LA, we've been inseparable ever since. Here's me making a face and trying my best to pretend I wasn't going to miss the shit outta him. (Awwww.)
me
Awwww.
me
Since we were all pretty much recovering from my going away party earlier in the week (and also since I'd used "Hey, I'm moving" as an excuse to party pretty much every single night for the past five weeks) we decided to play it low-key and have a mellow last night at Misshapes. Here's Fatty, Amy and I on the cab ride over.
me
...going...
me
The mover's had already come and taken all of my stuff (to California!). Meredith was out of town for the weekend and was nice enough to lend me her apartment.
me
Cousins Lindsay and Chad.
me
Big Bri and Steph.
me
With T-Minus four days until my big move to SF, I headed out to Clark, NJ to have dinner at my Grandparents and say goodbye. Here's me and my mom with G-ma and G-pa.
me
(Grizza, you have any idea what we sang?)
me
Late night (and noticably drunk at this point) Grant and I sang a duet.
me
me
Karen rules.
me
Me returning the Avid software Bev loaned me to edit together video I filmed of our spectacular "Boys' European Vacation 2003."
me
Me getting tricked into kissing Nina on the tongue.
me
Jim Jazz and Alison.
me
Which I'm guessing I probably followed up with Laura Brannigan's Gloria.
me
I was so hot and sweaty that I actually snuck into my room and changed out of Black T-shirt Number 3 and into Blue T-shirt Number 7. (Yeah, right - like I have seven shirts!)
me
Lorelei and I doing another duet. (Girl, where you been? We're so overdue for a karaoke date).
me
Lo enjoys my schweaty face.
me
Me and Philip.
me
Miye and me. Seriously, if I knew the chix where going to be digging my Cyrpus Hill steez so hardcore I would've gotten one of these babies years ago.
me
Lauren Flax and Jess.
me
Karen showed up bearing a very welcome gift.
me
Lizzie & Ben (who gets so caught up in his karaoke jams that he has to take clothes off).
me
Wow, chicks really do dig my fresh new chizzain.
me
KT and Siege (rocking a handlebar).
me
Leah and Caryn Ganz.
me
Ellen admiring my sweet hippie-heart neck tattoo.
me
Hahahah. Something tells me this might have been "Paradise By the Dashboard Lights."
me
Lorelei and I kicked off the festivities with a duet. (By the way, I'm writing these caption in May of 2005, almost a year later so I pretty much have no idea what song anyone was singing in these pics).
me
Awwwww! Thanks so much guys! You are the best friends ever. (Sorry I moved back so soon!). I started to put my gifts away and they were all like "No, no, no. After all the time we spent rounding that stuff up, you're wearing it at the party, CALIFORNIA BOY!"
me
And fake "dirty hippie teeth."
me
"Those are for when you go to Burning Man with your new California friends. Keep them in your mouth and when you're in the desert at night raving in the dark, it'll help ensure that no one crashes into you."
me
Hahahah.
me
The next few gift were to help me fit in with "all of the homeless people that you're sure to be hanging out with." Fake moustaches (because my friends all know that I can't grow a real moustache to save my life).
me
Some incense. ("After you're done humping hippy chicks, you might want to burn some of this. It'll help clear the air in the room.") I wasn't sure what the next gift was at first...
me
...a hackeysack! Hahaha. Check me out, showing off. Look out Dolores Park, here I come!
me
And a...
me
First up, a sweet Haight-Ashbury tie-dyed shirt. When I was like "This shirt's way too big!" They replied "Don't worry, you're going to start smoking lots of pot and do nothing out there. You'll get real fat and grow into it."
me
Grant, Leigh, Meredith and Sarah (none of whom were super-pleased with my decision to move) came over to my apartment early to give me a series of presents they'd named "The New Yorker in San Franciso Survival Kit." My interest was piqued.
me
Grant was digging it, though. And speaking of transformations, when did Grant transform into...
me
Tinny wasn't a fan of the transformation.
me
Shirt, check. Friendship bracelet, check. Tie-dye, check. Hemp pendant, check...the transformation is almost complete...
me
Peace, love and happiness temporary hippy tattoos. (Between these and the dolphin arm-band tattoos Leigh got me on my birthday, I'm all set!)
me
Trail Mix.
me
Next up, a beaded necklace.
me
A killer marijuana-leaf pendant. ("Make sure you wear that with the fanny pack. You'll be knee deep in hairy hippie bush in no time!")
me
First up...
me
The fannypack felt a little heavy and when I unzipped it to investigate, I found more presents!
me
They explained "Chicks out there, DIG THOSE."
me
Next up, a fannypack.
me
Candy stopped by early with Matt to drop off the karaoke gear for the party - and she and Leigh took a minute to laugh at my "getting ready for the party" outfit. Suh-weet.
me
Doug was still in town visiting and was kind enough to run all over town with me and help set up for the party. It was a BYOB affair, but because all the bodegas in my hood close at 9pm, we scored a shitload of cases of PBR and a buncha bottles of booze for back-up.
me
We even managed to rope Tinny into the mix!
me
Hahaha.
me
Group karaoke! Adam Mandell, Brother Lawrence and Smellsgood Gina on back-up vox with Sarah taking the part of cheerleading dancer.
me
Cah-yootie!
me
Hahaha. Who loves having their picture taken more than little kids?
me
Jersey Beef in the house.
me
When you're following Grant on the karaoke stage, you always gotta bring out the crowd pleasers.
me
Later that night we ended up at Sarah's apartment (where I made another AWESOME face).
me
Gay boys like me.
me
Oh, maybe it's because I'm double cupping her boobies.
me
Me and schweaty Ryan.
me
Why does Sarah look so put out?
me
Karen tasting my shirt.
me
Sweet Maria!
me
We ran into Caitlin who had some silly-ass eye make-up on...
me
I'm not sure I handed my camera over to at this point but as you'll be able to see over the next few pics, they managed to grab some clutch snaps. I didn't even know I was capable of making a face like this. (Check out Leigh in the background losing her shit. Hahaha).
me
Sometimes you gotta just spread the cheeks and get in there.
me
Know what I'm saying? (The best part of this photo is Meredith holding onto Sarah's hand like she needs some support).
me
Me covering my nips. (Trying to keep it PG, I mean kids read this site).
me
On Saturday afternoon I went over Ellen's house to play dress up for a photo shoot.
me
Officer Battjer on Nip Patrol.
me
...then met up with Grant in the East Village for some sushi.
me
And funnel cake.
me
Super smiley.
