On Thursday night after work, we loaded this critter into her crate (Maddy HATE a crate!) and headed to Penn Station to catch the NJ Transit train to spend the holiday weekend with my family! My ladies, lounging. Happy June! Later that night Lisa and Pauly came over for family night. Couch doogs. Out comes the tongue. Going in for the kiss. GRRR! SO FIERCE! She's grown so used to us constantly poking her and prodding her that she doesn't even wake up anymore. FIERCELY SLEEPING! I literally cannot look at this photo without laughing. Maddy's expression is RIDICULOUS! I'M GROWLING NOT SMILING, K? Saturday night we stayed in and spend most of the night drying off Maddy's teeth and pulling up her lips so her teeth are bared. These two guys even nap together all the time. Such buds. Badger dogs! Hahaha. After dinner, my parents came downtown to our place so they could say hi to the dogs. Maddy is a face licker with a long reach so you have to be careful or she'll French you before you know what hit you. This is how Maddy likes to lounge in my lap when I read. Edie doing some chin-sniffing at the dog park. Haha. Later that night Cat came over to hang! Maddy is turning into a stone-cold hunter. She wants to kill all birds, squirrels and rats. Check out them claws! ...but not without making all sorts of accidentally ridiculous faces. Like this! And this! Hahaha. Maddy is just starting to get the hang of how to chew puppy kibble. She can sort of do it... If you look carefully, you can see she's both of her top cuspids! They fell out and you can see her big girl teeth coming through her gums. Wiggle wiggle! Her breath smelled awful. Leigh best described it as smelling like "when you skin your knee skateboarding and smell the wet bandage." Hahaha. Ewwwww. Later that night, Leigh and I took turns playing DOGGIE DENTIST and wiggling all of Maddy's loose baby teeth! My absolute favorite photo of Edie and Maddy. Awwww. Yes, hello? Us? Check out these dog-buds. Chilling. Then later that night, Lisa and Pauly (and Pizza the dog!) came over for Family Night. Later that night Mandy game over and we played some Wii... Maddy likes to sleep behind Meredith when she's working. Haha. It's a four-player game and we had five people so whoever wasn't playing was in charge of petting Maddy. Late night we ended up back at our place and Lisa got to take adorable pictures with Maddy. Awwww. DOWN HOUND! Hahaha. Let me taste that delicious nose of yours! Later that night Scott came over to hang and was attacked with love! Funnily enough, I don't think this is the first time he's had two wieners in his face! Ba-dum-cha! Aww. ...and Maddy had rolled herself up like a taco. I went into my office in the evening and found both of the dogs burrowing into the comforter on the couch. These two were very interested in the smell of frying falafel. Mmmm. Happy April 2009! Squinty. Total buddies. We arrived back at the apartment to find these two curled up in the afternoon sun. Maddy likes to nuzzle necks when she sleeps. It's as good as you imagine it is. Pauly is appalled. And wiener-covered. Maddy was totally exhausted from all the dogs and was started to fall asleep on her little puppy feet so we had to retire her to her bag. It's a head in a bag! (Sung to the Dick in a Box melody). Later in the afternoon, Meredith's parents came down to meet us and see Maddy running around in her wiener-element. Wiener dogs on the move. Hahaha. It's a dog in a bag! (Sung to the tune of Dick in a Box ). Maddy isn't able to run around too long on her puppy legs without getting exhausted. Luckily, we found out that she loves to be carried around in a bag. ...to attend Daschund Day in Washington Square Park ! ...we suited Maddy up for one of her first big excursions... So much awesome in my living room it's unbelievable. Just a basic Wednesday night hang. Oh, Bret! How has it come to this? Oh man, this photo makes me laugh every single time I look at it. It's got everything. You literally can't have a bad day with these guys around. Three clean noses! ...I found these two napping in the sunshine in the their matching outfits. Reeee-diculous. When I came home on Sunday... One minute Maddy would be getting her puppy belly rubbed... ...and then puppy batteries would run out. Look at how her head is hanging totally limp! Hahaha. Dead tired! Maddy would go at it fiercely until her puppy batteries ran out. Which happened a lot. No, I ATTACK YOU ! I ATTACK YOU! Ten hours later and they're still at it. Although, they moved the BATTLE ARENA to the much larger couch. Ear cleanse deluxe! No charge for you! Nose licking retaliation. BAP! Stubby brass paw to the ear! When these two fight, they make weird honking noises and if you were in the other room you would think it was geese and not dogs. Total weirdos. Hahaha. This photo makes me laugh out loud. (I also like how there's a rat in the background.) Is adorable? OMG! Meredith's latest CRAFTQUEST! at the time was sewing matching outfits for the dogs. Tiny dog in a hallway: side view. Tiny dog in a hallway. Back at the apartment later that night, we snuggled with dogs... Aw, really? On my way out the apartment on Monday morning I walked into the living room and these two were just sitting on the couch like this side by side. Total buds. Edie was there too. It was a regular dog party. Later that evening, Meredith's friend Blair came over with his new puppy! Hahaha. Maddy was like "I'm a dog! What are you?" Maddy was a little nervous. On Sunday we took the dogs to the dog park together for the first time! Meredith looks like a Royal Tenenbaum in this photo. Hahaha. So good. I love how her stupid feet go in opposite directions. Landing gear up, please. Look at how Maddy used to fall asleep! All balled up light a little speckled hedgehog. ...she promptly buried her face back under the cushion and went back to puppy-sleep! When I sneaked in closer to get a better pic, Maddy momentarily woke up to see who was in the room. But as soon as she saw that it was only me... On Saturday afternoon, I came back from running errands and found these two sound asleep on the couch in the office. Whenever someone is giving her affection, she tries to reciprocate by licking. We're trying to break her of this habit, so instead she frantically licks the air with her tongue. Maddy, like most miniature daschunds, is a complete and total love bug. If you hate pictures of tiny, speckly puppies wearing homemade t-shirts, you might want to skip ahead a bit. Tiny dog in a homemade t-shirt. HIDE YOUR MOUTH! COVER YOUR MOUTH! If you don't restrain her, she goes right for her favorite licking-spot: THE MOUTH! Look! It's got a belly that's almost two hand-lengths long! Thwarted!
