(Adam Purple pretty much single-handedly created every garden in the Lower East Side by riding his bike up to the central park horse stables, collecting manure, and carting it back downtown to mix into the soil around all the empty lots where they'd torn buildings down. Over the years and through thousands of trips with manure, he turned all the empty lots into fertile topsoil where plants could grow! They had out purple juice... I could watch giant bees collect pollen all day Thumb for scale. Watched the flowers in the garden on the way home. On the walk home I passed the La Plaza bulletin board and learned that Adam Purple had died. Someone just planted neat new trees in La Plaza! ...while I was out with Maddy for her afternoon stroll. Stopped to watch some Shakespeare in the La Plaza park... Maddy growling at the chickens in their coop. Morning walk through the garden! Snow on the art-trash fence across the street. Stopped to admire the ice sculpture they'd carved the previous night.... Walked by La Plaza and they had some kind of ice sculpting event going on! ...because the chickens prefer to hang outside and huddle together for warmth. Awww, cuddle chickens!
