We took this picture of us both speaking with her and assured her that it'd eventually be posted on the site. So here's a big shout out to Grammy Pam! (Here's a pic of her from when we were in London last year! She's the one immediately to Grant's left!)
Hey, it's Jim! This (fugging) guy and a few of his friends were in town from all over the place (Toronto, Boston and London if I remember correctly). He read about the show on my site and they all decided to swing by and check the band out! So rad!
Grant flirting with my future wife, Natalie (psst...Natalie, I want to make babies with you. If you're not interested in that maybe we could just practice making them. Email if you ever see this.) Bonus points to Jim for continuing to make the "get of load of this fugging guy" face. Hahaha.
On Monday I went to karaoke at Crash Mansion (that name still makes me shudder every time I say it. Ugh, so bad) and ran into Jay Madrick! Jay was the drummer in Wellspring, which you may remember as the short-lived band that we were in with Josh Teixeira back in college!
On Monday night I was walking home through the LES and remembered that Heavy Metal Karaoke was going on at Arlene's Grocery. I got there way to late to sing, but I watched a few people sing and ended up running into Matty - Tara's good friend who'd recently moved to NYC via Boston. We took this picture to send to Tara, but uh, I don't think I ever did. So hey Tara, check it out, I ran into Matty.
Later that night, Stephen and I headed out together and went to have some Sunday night drinks at Emo's where I ended up meeting Dan Sharky, who I'd been emailing with for years!
Here's Grant and I in Ira's kitchen. We were all crabby from our drive and if I remember correctly were pretty much ready to fight each other (I'd SOOOO win) when this mutual "get a load of this fuggin' guy" photo was taken.
Brian Wahlund (one of the producers of the show) and Grant. (PS - Check out Grant's beard! He'd been living on the ranch for a few weeks and decided to grow a mountain man beard).
Just when we'd totally given up on interacting with females, Grant spotted a girl that we'd seen out on a previous night. He'd overheard her talking and knew she was American. So we went over and introduced ourselves. (Check out the Fatty in the background trying to sneak into the pic with a "Fatty Face").
...and this guy! I wish I could remember his fucking name! ARgh! He was a total Staten Island-style guido who was pretty much the friendliest guy I've ever met. He saw us taking pictures and wanted to take a look at my camera...which of course led to us taking pictures with him.
We also ran into Troublemaker Jen who has twice been the cause of, yep, you guessed it, trouble. (Wait a minute...what's that playing up there on the ginormous big-screen TV...First with the "Visible Nipple Incident" of 2002 and later as a key player in "The Greatest Story I'm Not Allowed to Tell You About" of earlier this year).
...and two guys: Pascal and Nicolas - who in the most randomest coincidence of all time were fans of this website! It turns out Pascal and Nicolas work for a French wine company that had done business with Nerve and one day while Google-searching for information on Nerve, they came across my site and ended up reading most of it. So when Laure went to introduce Grant and myself to them, they were like "We already know zeese guys! Zey are cuh-razy!"
I tried to give Nicolas the old "check out this character" finger-point, but Frenchy was all studied-up on my moves and managed to counter with his very own "Ooo does zeese guy theenk ee iz?" finger right back at me. Damn, he's good.
One Glaswegian + One ManSkirt + Plus 14 Scotches = A Royal AssKicking Just Waiting to Happen. So when this Scotsmans rolled up on our sorry group and wanted to hang, we knew it was time to head back to the hotel.
Besides seeing the Eiffel Tower, the only other thing Tara wanted to do in Vegas was go to the Rainforest Cafe (don't ask me, I'm still trying to figure out why as well). So check it out, we sit down at our table and then I notice there's this lady at the table behind Tara who's wearing a shirt that looks like it has a gold lamé bib built into it. When I pointed her out to Tara (who's from Texas), Tara shrugged and explained to me "Oh, that's just her eatin' shirt."
Later on, when the lady was finished with her meal (all four plates of it) she took off the bib, folded it up (see the fold-marks in it?) pulled out a matching, gold lamé, bib carrying-case, and put her folded-up gold lamé bib into her matching gold lamé bib carrying case, and put it back into her purse. I was shocked into silence. I had been kidding about it being a bib, I just thought it was part of her shirt. Who carries a bib (nevermind a gold lamé bib) around with them? Who? Fucking Vegas. Jesus.
Moments earlier I had introduced Sarah and Jim and Sarah goes "Oh, we've met." Jim, "We have?" Sarah, "Yeah, at Max Fish. You were real drunk and when we left you tried to make out with me at the subway." Jim, "Hmmm, that sounds about right."
Grant proudly displays his very own drink creation, The SweetTart.
Brett, intially impressed, asked him:
"What's in the SweetTart?" Grant: "A shot of Amaretto mixed with sour mix." Brett:
"Oh. Actually, that's called an Amaretto Sour." Grant (picking up a random bottle and adding a splash): "There! Now it's a SweetTart."
The jacket may have quickly been retired, but the "ElectroGrantClash-2k3" theme song it spawned lives on. (Make sure you ask me to sing it next time you see me).
Remember that guy making faces at Grant in this photo at our Holiday Party? Well he's been identified! His name is Timmy and as soon as Grant met him he kept trying to get Timmy back by making funny faces behind his back, but Timmy kept catching him.
If you look over Tara's head, you'll see a dude in the background. If he hadn't moved right at the last second, you'd be able to see that the reason we're making those faces and pointing is because of the...
Bwa-hahahaha! Here's Grant surreptitiously giving Alex the ol' "Get a Load of This Guy" face for the cam. (Bonus points to the guy over Grant's right shoulder laying down the double-ironic "Who does this guy think he is making fun of that other guy" face. Ha!)
Seven Layer put on a fancy shirt and wasn't about to get clam sauce all over it...check him shamelessly sporting the fucking Guinea Bib. Molto bello, fuckhead! (PS - Bonus Points to Grant for an amazing "get a load of this fuggin' guy" face).
...this guy! Hahaha! All these pics were taken at the Greenwich, CT Hilton and as the night wore on, all of the random people that were just there drinking and hanging out started mingling with us wedding folk.
Hey, it's not really a night of jerseyshoredrinking unless somebody tries to kick YOUR FUCKING FAGGOT ASS!!! This guy proudly displays his ripped shirt. (Bonus points to his friend for making that face. Ha!).
This is the 2nd best pic of the night. Vin & Josh blow up Grant's spot ("Who does that guy think he is back there?") as he tries to kick it to Amanda in the background. HAHAHA!
After getting out we headed down to sub-mercer to say hi to my friend Peter who was spinning. Joey ended up buying a drink (which at sub-mercer is like $12). So after we leave the club, he all pulls these two glasses out from under his shirt. When we asked him why he took them, he dropped science explaining "If I'm going to pay that much for a drink, I'm going to keep the glass.....er, plus some other glass too."
