a thing in 197 photos new years eve Awesome. Thanks so much for all the work you put into making this happen, Ty! Everyone got together for a big group shot before we sat down to dinner. Breadstick seduction . We all headed down the road to a restaurant that Ty had rented out for the night. The seventies porno atmosphere... ...was completed with a bathing-suit clad sushi model. The meeting of the costumes! Elevator party. ...and Nick's AMAZING outfit. On the way to the elevator we ran into Tex... Matt had a nice casting director vibe going. Mer went silver sparkly. Ethan busted out an alligator vest! ...before Tyson & Zack came around to make sure everyone was suited up in appropriate "seventies porno" attire for dinner! Headed back up off the beach! A wonderfully pine-crackling way to welcome the new year! Around 3am, we ran out of firewood and someone got the bright idea to round up a bunch of Christmas trees that were left by the side of the road and bring them down to the beach! MORE FIRE! Snappy. KABLOOEY! Ty and Mer bathed in orange christmas fire! With the party in full swing... ...a crowd gathered along the windy waterfront to watch... Sparkler songs. ...and we headed down to a dance floor that had been built out on the beach! Happy 2011! ...I grabbed an extra bottle of champagne... The gentlemens. Ladies class portrait. ..and headed down the street en masse to a local restaurant. And there was Gatsby himself. Per our host's request, we made it down to the parking lot by 9:30 sharp... Around 9ish, everyone started getting dressed up for the big dinner party. Mer & Matt in their Gatsby best. Our invite was very specific about taking the Gatsby theme seriously and coming up with a good costume. Here's mine! Here we go 2010!

Still time. Ellen and Mer. Happy New Year, Karen! Look who we found waiting for the elevator when it opened up on the third floor! HAP-PY NEW YEAR! Thanks so much for having us, Siege and Katie! ...BLAMO! First Fatty Face of 2010! ...22 seconds and counting... I got right down to business and handing out the special "party favors" I brought... I gave her step by step instructions and stepped back to try to capture an action shot. Less than a minute later, BLAMO! Check out the action shot I managed to capture of Amanda cutting the bottle top clean off! Happy New Year! Happy 2009, everyone! Siege and KT. Me and Mer. Scott! We all went downstairs and found the usual suspects hanging out down in the basement backroom. But by the time I got there, the place was dead. Right after I walked in the door, Ryan and Amy K. showed up (they'd had a mellow evening and decided to rally late as well!) 2005 was a pretty fucking sweet year. Here's to hoping 2006 is even better. Happy New Year! Happy 2006, Leigh Lezark! Geordon was already going through the photos from earlier in the evening... ...while Grant, Amanda and I hopped in a cab. They headed home and afterwards I took the cab to see if MisShapes was still going on. ...the awesome bag of "2006" glasses that someone had brought to the party! Happy 2006, Meredith! Happy 2006, Niki the Roommate! (Sorry, I'm the worst roommate ever!) The party wound down a little bit before 4am. Meredith decided to call it a night... Happy 9006, Siege! (I didn't know you were celebrating the Jewish calendar!) Happy 2006, Seth! After all the "it's a brand new year!" excitement died down... Holy shit, you're going to squeeze out a kid in 2006, Liz! You're a star in 2006, Grizz! Happy 2006, KT! Happy 2006, Mrs. Peepers! Holy shit, you're going to be a dad in 2006, Frank! Siege (drinking a Sour Apple Smirnoff Ice, no less!) and Mandy Moo. ...we got right back to playing DDR. Fatty played Auld Lang Syne on a tiny, tiny bugle. Frank showed off Liz's work in progress! Lydia coming soon! And then it was time for New Year's Eve Portraits! Featuring... Michael Martin (the most elusive dude we know) even showed up! Yay! Amanda popped the champagne! A few dance-offs later and it was midnight! Happy 2006, everyone! Happy 2006, Michael Martin! Happy 2006, Meredith! The affair started low-key with the usual suspects (Grant, Fatty, Katie, Amanda and Siege) chilling in my room. Then as more people started to arrive, we moved out into the living room and set up Dance Dance Revolution! I'd even gone out a few days earlier and bought a second "dance pad" so that two people could go head-to-head in a competitive DANCE OFF! Here's Meredith and Grant squaring off. Seth and Erinne. The Tinny! I stole this picture from Amy's account of the night because I like it so much! First stop in Manhattan was to say high to Leigh at the MisShapes party at the Tribecca Grand. Smoochy-smoochy at midnight. Awww. And that's it. That's my New Year's. I danced with Sarah until 6am and then decided to call it a night and head home. Happy 2004. Mmmmmm....butt. But mostly people were pretending they were dancing just so they could be near the stage where there were girls getting naked. And then Jen took here shirt off? (I don't even remember what was going on here. I was too busy praying that my batteries wouldn't die before things got more interesting). Add a little Liz to tha mix and the next thing you know... And I found the Fatty in a rare, intoxicated state getting frizzesh with the ladies. So back to us. More goofing off and catching up.... By the time I got over there around 3:30ish, the party had pretty much dwindled down. But I hadn't seen Nina in ages so I hung out for an hour or so and caught up. Take two! This time with more attitude and less Ken. Yay, I have friends! I have friends! Clockwise from top left: Vin, Ken, Dave, me, Audrey and Julia. The party in Brooklyn was winding down and some friend's of Monica's were in town from Miami DJing at a club in Chinatown. So we hopped a cab, got to the club at around 2:30, and ended up dancing until morning when they kicked us out at like 10:30am. Happy New Year! Me and three girls that I've never seen before in my life. (This was right when the ball dropped). Happy New Year, you, um, strangers! David and me. The only redeeming thing about New Year's Eve is that it also happens to be David Forman's birthday. Shane and I took the man himself out for a celebratory dinner at Blue Ribbon in Soho. HAP-PY NEW YEAR! (Grant, Nina, Lo, Hannah and me). Me giving Emma a New Year's smooch 13 seconds left...
A few weeks into the new year, Jon Danovic sent around this amazing video he put together with all of his sneaky 5D video footage. So perfect.
