On Friday morning we went to Life Cafe (RIP) for an awesome sidewalk brunch. She explained it was a device she'd fashioned earlier in the evening that allowed her to turn off the lights in the room without having to get out of the loft. Later that night we were walking to the movie theater with Matt and Ellen when we got waylaid by the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck. Things worth noting: Meredith reads Heinlein and Maddy sleeps with her arms out and eyes half-open like a tiny zombie! Came home later to find these two curled up together. Still beardtastic, though. On Sunday we went to Meredith's parents house. We found these glasses in the basement. Later that night we met up with for a late dinner at Black Market! Beach hair! No better way I'd rather spend a Saturday. We packed up our things a little before four. Sun naps. Squinty. It was a perfect day and the beach was practically deserted! Buds. Meredith was reading Cook's... Stopped at Hot N Crusty (the unfortunate actual name of the restaurant/bodega) and got a pizza bagel before getting on the L! We managed to leave the apartment early on Saturday to head to Far Rockaway! I came home to find Maddy crashed out on Meredith's shoulder. Awwww, tiny nuzzler. Loft! Afterwards, we met up for a few drinks. On Sunday night Mer and I went over to 3A to hang with Quinn and Sarah. ...and piled back into the van to head home! We stuffed the dogs in bags... The entire yard was filled with little children who were IN LOVE with Maddy but were in constant danger of trampling her tiny wiener body. Meredith eventually came up with a system where she'd put Maddy in a bag and then bend down so the girls could pet her. The entire street was lined with the cars of party attendees. Van full of awesome. Mer! Mer and me. On Friday night the Cravens were in town! We met up at our apartment for a few warm up drinks... On Thursday night Jonah came over! Post roof-nap nap. Maddy keeps diligent watch from her legs. After dropping off our bags, we headed over to Tompkins Park to congratulate Candy and Joel for their recent engagement! Awesome! ...that she'd used her Dremel's diamond-attachment to decoratively-etch a bottle of wine as a gift for my cousin Lindsey's bridal shower. I got home and Meredith was excited to show me... Gurj, Mer and Quinn. On the walk over, we stopped to admire her Hollywood Hair. Bad monkey. ...to meet up with a bunch of people.... ...while Meredith made and packed a bunch of sandwiches... So jealous of all my dogs. Meredith made an AMAZING mushroom risotto for dinner. Later that afternoon, we took all the dogs over to the park and there was a special surprise waiting there for Maddy... On Saturday we were dogsitting Amber's dog, Charlie. Ellen came over to add Piper to the dog mix. Snapped a photo of these two canoodling on the couch on my way out the door to work on Thursday morning. Good book! (Fates Worse Than Death by Kurt Vonnegut) Philip and Biba were in town from the UAE and came over to say hi to Tuesday. On Saturday we went and bought some new furniture. We spend the rest of the afternoon, unpacking and making room for it to be delivered! We sat on nearby park bench and enjoyed our still-warm donuts in the spring sunshine. That's not a gimp-hand, it's Meredith's hand-sign for... On Saturday morning, we walked over to St. Marks to stock up on cheapo $5 sunglasses... Me and Mer. (Before putting it on our tiny dog, we both took turns wearing it and barking to make sure it wasn't too inhumane. Verdict: Not pleasant, but definitely not terrible). By 5:30 our new living room was starting to fill up. I walked down to our new apartment (just a few blocks away) to wait for the moving guys in the truck. At first, I couldn't find Meredith - then I climbed the ladder to our new loft and found her out cold on the plywood. Haha. Afterwards, we went back to Stuytown and spent the rest of the day packing in preparation for the movers coming the next day! Ellen , Piper and Mer.
