me
On Monday afternoon, we hopped in a cab and headed over to Leigh's apartment...
me
Married folks!
me
De-plane, boss. De-plane.
me
Haha.
me
Neck pillows? Check! Ready for the thirty-hour trip back.
me
I've come to stuff my face.
me
Last night as honeymooners!
me
Later in the afternoon, we wandered around the town on foot. Mer did a bunch of souvenir shopping...
me
...and I posed with this handsome feller.
me
Probably the fanciest I'd ever felt during breakfast.
me
One more for the road.
me
Here's us with our awesome tour guide!
me
Hahah.
me
He wanted to dress us up in traditional Balinese wedding clothes and take our picture!
me
After we'd finished the tour, we stopped by our guide's house. He told us to wait outside because he had a surprise for us.
me
...uh...presenting a hill!
me
Us in front of the wall!
me
About an hour and half (!!!) after setting out, we finally managed to find the road near the Yeh Pulu ruin. When we got to the end of the road, we met a super-friendly local farmer/tour guide who offered to take us on a tour of his farmland and show us Yeh Pulu. It was awesome to walk on the narrow grass pathways that separate all the rice paddies.
me
...pretending to take a nap in the little farmer's "nap hut" he showed us. Haha. And...
me
When our tour guide found out that we were on our honeymoon, he insisted on stopping every couple of minutes to take pictures of Meredith and I together. Doing things like...posing in front of the rice paddy! And...
me
Not so much.
me
I got a massage at the hotel and they gave me these weird disposable manties to wear. I decided to keep them on and surprise Meredith. Hahaha. (BTW, Right after we got back from our honeymoon, Meredith accidentally made THIS photo the featured photo; when I posted it, THIS was the photo that appeared in every single person's Facebook stream (including like 200 of my co-workers at Yodle. Errrr, sorry about that everyone!)
me
Snacking and reading.
me
After a day of settling in...
me
After some swimming and napping at the pool, we went up to the restaurant at the top of the hill...
me
Meredith never fails to get great amusement from...
me
Showing off the Edie shirt that I "borrowed" from Leigh.
me
After breakfast, we went on a 3-hour guided tour of all the local farms. Me with our tour guides.
me
People in Bali are super-friendly and any time a local found out we were on our honeymoon they were so excited for us. It was really great.
me
I got friend rice and a baked bean jaffle (pressed sandwich).
me
After two hours at the gardens, we hit the road looking for place to relax and eat.
me
Here's us doing our best to not squint.
me
One last awesome outdoor shower courtesy of DRAGON STATUE SHOWER HEAD!
me
After 3 days in Pemuteran, we had decided it was time to move on. We busted out the guidebook and started looking at possible next-destinations!
me
NONE SHALL PASS! (The guy at the temple didn't speak any English, put he certainly understood the pantomime for "Hey, wanna pretend we're having a SWORD fight for this photo?" Yes!)
me
He even gave us wooden switches to intimidate the monkeys with!
me
You had a cover your bare legs.
me
..the sign spun around! Haha.
me
Outside of our room was a carved, wood statue of a woman holding a sign...
me
Giant chess board on the beach!
me
After eating, we hopped back into our rental car and drove for like 3 minutes.
me
Look who decided to get a big boy breakfast!
me
I got sunburn on my chest and it hurt to rest my book on my chest so I fashioned my napkin into a tiny protective shirt and Meredith kept (rightfully) laughing at me.
me
Awesome.
me
Wanna hold this guy?
me
Shaking Mer's foot at the surface.
me
Strapping on a fresh tank.
me
Mer doesn't like scuba diving (she has trouble equalizing the pressure in her ears) but she was excited to snorkel around the reef while we were diving.
me
Waking up.
me
Me showing off the hotel's ninja robes.
me
Me, peeking over the edge of the edgeless pool. (Kilroy was here.)
me
Me, blowing out all my air and sinking to the bottom.
me
Do not disturb, please!
me
The local time was 3:30 in the afternoon.
me
My body was convinced it was time for breakfast and I got banana pancakes.
me
Fell asleep with my hoodie on. Haha.
me
Hey hey, are you ready for a...
me
JC Penny back-to-school catalog pose #142!
me
Mike took this great photo of us with some of the Cathay Pacific flight attendants, then we said goodbye and headed to the gate. Thanks so much for coming out to see us off, Mike!
me
After much wandering around (SFO international is HUGE) we finally met up with Mike and he became the very first of our friends to see us as a MARRIED COUPLE!
me
You has message for me?

me
Right at 1pm, my dad brought the car around...
me
We didn't hire a wedding photographer!
me
Putting my getting-married clothes on!
me
After a dose of cold medicine and a hot shower, I felt much better. Getting ready to GET MARRIED!!!
me
On the morning of the big day, everyone let me sleep in while they went out for breakfast. Meredith took this photo of my parents coming in to wake me up! Haha.
me
Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that I still hadn't written my wedding vows yet? (I like to consider my options for as long as possible and not actually put pen to paper until the very last possible minute.)
me
Mer came home and woke up a little after 10pm. I'd gotten another eight hours of sleep since our trip to the doctor and my fever was finally breaking.
me
...I was experiencing LEVEL 4 amounts of pain and discomfort. The doctor told me I didn't have swine flu; just a nasty cold...
me
When we got to the doctor's office, they gave me this face mask to wear! Remember back two years ago there was a big panic about swine flu? They had just started quarantining people and I was worried that they weren't going to let me board our honeymoon plane to Bali if I was running a fever!
me
I went to bed the previous night feeling a little crummy, but chalked it up to being tired from the flight. But the next morning I woke up feeling terrible and running a fever! Oh noes!
me
Getting married the day after tomorrow!
me
Me and the bride-to-be.
me
The bedrooms were separated from the rest of the unit with sliding glass doors(??).
our wedding in tahoe
September 01, 2009
me
That's where we're getting married!
me
Excited.
me
4:30am. Taking the elevator downstairs to head to the airport...TO GET MARRIED!
me
Joining the married club shortly!
me
Scott and me.
me
We ran into Candy at karaoke! We didn't end up staying all that much longer because the place didn't really have a sound system, er, or a place to really even sing karaoke.
me
The tie I picked out is like the mullet of ties. Business in the front, party in the back.
me
If you look carefully you can make out the edge of my party peeking out from behind the formal black veneer.
me
You're getting married to THIS GUY!
me
Haha.
me
All this by 11:30pm.
