Gavin and I locked in a deadly karaoke battle.
karaoke
After a few (or more) drinks at Cherry Tavern, we headed right out to karaoke.
karaoke
When following an act like Grant, sometimes you gotta enlist the help of props. Fully intending to take on the master, relative karaoke newcomer Larson took the stage in full skipper regalia flanked by two pastel chicas and busted out Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart (which he actually has the gumption to call "his" song! Playa, please!)
karaoke
...PROP EXCESS! In accordance with Buddyhead's Rules of Rock (ie: "Number 18. Drummers can take off their shirts or they can wear gloves, but not both.") the Karaoke Rules of Rock must state that you can wear a Skipper's uniform or a HULKfist, never both.
karaoke
Grant hit the stage and tried out some new moves. Like pretending that his leg and ass were a guitar so he could play along for the two-guitar solo (holy shit). After warming up the crowd with his new moves...
karaoke
He closed in for the kill with an aerial classic (bonus points awarded for the finger pointing at the ground).
karaoke
Ellen Stagg in the hizzy.
karaoke
Bladders emptly, we headed over the basement of Remote to say hi to Sid & Buddy and friends.
karaoke
Grant hitting the stage also remarked the triumphant return of Chef! Yes! He sang the Darkness' I Believe in a Thing Called Love. (Which practically demands multiple David Lee Rothesque aerial maneuvers).
karaoke
Big Daddy took the mic and kicked a little Lionel Ritchie "Celebration" (and Frank stayed on stage to back him up).
karaoke
...down to its KNEES!
karaoke
Bringing the house down...
karaoke
Grant onstange trying to get the hang of the very unique "FrankDance."
karaoke
Which cleared the lane for his big duet with (South African model and bizarro Nicole Kidman lookalike) Kanue.
karaoke
Seth moved in during the sweeping romantic chorus, until the song finally climaxed into a loving, tender...
karaoke
karaoke
Then it was time for the Man of Honor to take the stage.
karaoke
...ass-cupping. (Hey Seth, does your girlfriend still read my site? Hope not! Hahah).
karaoke
Followed by Grant doing a lil Gn'R.
karaoke
After the (outright boring) trip to the nudy bar, we decided to head to Remote Lounge and take over Sid and Buddy's karaoke night there. (I guess karaoke's becoming a bachelor party trend?)
karaoke
Seth "Palm-greaser" Miller, introduced Sid & Buddy to his good friend "Mr. Frankin" and instantly the karaoke stage was ours. Here's Seth kicking things off with some Stevie.
karaoke
The plan was to have Leigh pop her cherryaoke, but instead she ended up being Meredith's shy backup dancer. I was really disappointed in Leigh. Meredith however...
karaoke
Something Easy Like a Sunday Morning (ahh-ahh-ah-ahhhhhhhh.)
karaoke
After my screaming rendition of Gloria's tale of woe (that crazy whore)...Philip wanted to sing something easy.
karaoke
Gloria, how's it gonna go down? Will you meet him on the main line? Or catch him on the rebound?
karaoke
After I was finished housing the pie, Philip swung by and we hit the town looking for a drink. Believe it or not, the only bar that we found that was open was this karaoke bar. (I swear, we weren't even looking for karaoke).
karaoke
I rocked out so hard I broke the fucking mic stand.
karaoke
Chris on the mic.
karaoke
Hahahaha. Grant executes a new move.
karaoke
And your air guitar.
karaoke
Which was suprisingly empty. Sometimes you want a packed karaoke joint, but other times less-crowded is better because it means you get to monopolize the stage.
karaoke
So amazing.
karaoke
...HAHAHAHAHA. Hooooo-leeeeeeeeee fugging shit. I almost pissed myself. What's that? You'd like a close up? Yeah, me too.
karaoke
There was this dude there who had slathered himself in that awful bronzer skin dye that makes you look tan. He kept going up to Sid and Buddy every five minutes and saying stuff like "Yo dudes, am I going to be up anytime soon? I'm going to be a famous singer someday and it might be in your best interest to treat me right." He tried that nonsense for 90 minutes and finally growing discouraged, bribed them with $40 and was instantly put on stage. Hahaha. He started singing some awful Justin Timberlake song while gyrating and air-humping. This prompted Carol to bum-rush the stage and sexily unbutton his shirt while he sang. He thought she was into him, but everytime he looked away from her, she'd pull faces like this...
karaoke
Thursday night I went to karaoke and found Carol in rare, ultra-fiesty form.
karaoke
And to practive your aerial manuevers.
karaoke
But it's ok, I just ended up playing it off like all I really wanted was an Alice Cooperesque cane to point at people with.
karaoke
Chris enlightened the lingering audience members by accompanying Grant's last somg with some "traditional" Greek dance moves.
karaoke
Goodnight Jamie! Thanks for being such a good sport! Congratulations!
karaoke
"What, you want me to drop my pants again?"
karaoke
Then Jamie and all of the guys in his wedding party hit the stage for a group sing-a-long.
karaoke
...here he is at the peak! How fucking unbelievable is this picture? As soon as I clicked the shutter I knew I'd managed to capture something magical. Click here to download a full-size, high-resolution version. Because you know you want to set this shit as your desktop wallpaper.
karaoke
It has a crazy fast shutter and I can usually manage to capture two to four pictures per second with it. Here's Grant on the way up and...
karaoke
Ok, towards the end of the night, I switched back over to shooting with my fancy cam.
karaoke
Hahaha. Yep, that's definitely a Bon Jovi face.
karaoke
Looks like Jovi to me.
karaoke
The crowd going wild to Buddy playing "inflatible fiddle" to The Devil Went Down to Georgia.
karaoke
Buddy driving the love train.
karaoke
Neeeeple Peeench.
karaoke
This guy was awful, so Carol and Marjorie rushed the stage to try and help make his performance more entertaining.
karaoke
Julie played along for the first few minutes, but as the song dragged on Ed's crooning and caressing went from cute to creepy in a hurry. (Hey, remember when Chiara's friend Leila almost hooked up with Ed after a serenading?)
karaoke
Ooh-la-la! Ed!
karaoke
Then Ed went up and sang some ballad from the 70s that no one else knew. Ed can't truly emote his love unless he has a muse in the audience to perform to. On this particular night, Julie was singled out as the lucky lady.
karaoke
Emily rocking the stage.
karaoke
Here's my failed attempt to catch him at the peak of a DLR kick - don't worry, they'll be plenty more of this later.
karaoke
Haha. The view from above.
karaoke
Purple Rain never felt so good.
karaoke
Then Grant come on!
karaoke
I don't know who the guy singing was, I was more interested in taking pictures of Buddy trying to manage playing the inflatible guitar while wearing BOTH Hulk Fists.
karaoke
Ben pulling some crazy-ass "Michael Jackson in the BAD video" shit on stage.
karaoke
And then she licked his "titties necklance."
karaoke
...officially kick off the karaoke festivities!
karaoke
Talk about a good sport. God bless this guy.
karaoke
Then halfway through his song, she rushed the stage and made it clear that she preferred him pantless.
karaoke
Candy (who is indeed, the devil) went up right afterwards and tried to smooth things over with a well-executed karaoke jam.
karaoke
Hahaha. Best photo ever. She just won't rest until she gets her hands on...
karaoke
After her impressive ariel debut, Candy went back up onstage once again accompanied by the ever-lusting Kanue.
karaoke
Who's certainly not shy about her crush on Candy.
karaoke
This picture is so awesome it merrited a close up. So here you go.
karaoke
...SID AND BUDDY KARAOKE! After a long hiatus from the karaoke circuit, Grant came back with a fierceness! Pulling his usual ariel stunts...
karaoke
Grant's jam got everyone crazy amounts of worked up. Going so far as to inspire Candy to try her first DLR (David Lee Roth) onstage air kick!
karaoke
...as well as introducing a few new tricks. Like using Candy as a guitar during his song's solo. Holy fucking shit.
karaoke
Ok, enough with all the orgy stuff - how about we get to some singing?
karaoke
"Sure, I'm being all cute while you're on stage. Holding your hand, singing along..."
karaoke
...Candy! Every time Candy sings, Kanue ends up on stage with her trying to publicly roll up deep in her steez.
karaoke
Needless to say this particular night of karaoke was a little more out of control than most other karaoke nights.
karaoke
Any time you end up wearing a silver sparkly bandana, it's usually a safe bet to say you've had an interesting evening. And hey, the month's only half over. Click here for Part Two.
karaoke
"...but if you don't come home with me I swear to god I'll break your fucking arm. You hear me, Candy?"
karaoke
I bet you were starting to wonder where the karaoke photos were, am I right?
karaoke
You were all thinking, "Man, where are the photos of people lying drunk on a karaoke stage trying to look up Candy's skirt?"
karaoke
Hahahahah. Holy fuck. Who knew Justin Timberlake had a brother with Down's Syndrome?
karaoke
Lots of people ask me why I go to karaoke so often.
karaoke
Carol, Marjorie and Ellen on the 'roke stage.
karaoke
Clearly, they're not people that look at the pictures on this site.
karaoke
Matt "scarfs" it up while Ellen shakes her tail.
karaoke
Woo, karaoke!
karaoke
After the party was over (aka - after the open bar ended) I headed back eastward and found my way over to Sid and Buddy's Thursday night karaoke party at Remote Lounge.
karaoke
And then this guy started getting naked.
karaoke
Ellen back on mic.
karaoke
Brian's one of the dudes that manages the place and beyond helping us to continue cutting the karaoke line, he also hooked us up with free drinks! Karaoke line cutting privileges? Free drinks? Rina was impressed. And we all know where that leads...
karaoke
Rina rocking out.
karaoke
Is there anything better than six girls on stage singing a collaborative karaoke jam?
karaoke
Monday night I met up with Sarah and we headed over to a new karaoke night (shhhh! Don't tell Sid & Buddy I'm cheating!) over at Crash Mansion (which is, hands down, the GIZZAYEST name for an establishment in the history of the world).
karaoke
Sarah don't come out to karaoke much, but when she does, she brings the pain.
karaoke
Emily Scarlett-Kramer on the mic. A bonafide hot mamma and half the girl-force behind the now legendary CAKE parties. (On a side note, I get like 2-3 emails PER WEEK from dudes asking me how to get invited. Find a cute girl who's a member and have her invite you.)
karaoke
Say what you will but I still think you really can't go wrong by starting the month off with karaoke that looks like this by the end of the night.
karaoke
Superstar photographer Ellen Stagg throating out a Zepplin smackdown.
karaoke
Especially this one girl who spent most of the song dancing while leaning all of her weight against me.
karaoke
After Fatty and Colin primed the audience and by the time I hit the stage to deliver a Bon Jovi smackdown, things were totally...
karaoke
Colin and Bill's amazing duet managed to bring even more girls we didn't know up out of their seats and on to the dancefloor.
