We left the party and headed back to Beford to catch the subway. Check out this "off to see the Wizard" shot that either Katie or Siege managed to snap. Hahaha.
grant
This isn't from New Year's, but it was one of the pics that Katie sent around with the other pics she took of the night and I thought this would be as good a place as any to re-post it.
grant
No, you're the man now, dawg!

(I think Meredith had the winning comment for this photo when she said "Who looks like a moring-after tranny hooker in this photo? Nope, sorry Grant. That's not the correct answer." Hahaha.)
grant
Check out Lucy, the lady the place is named for laughing at clapping at Grant's post-tequila grimace.
grant
Te-kill-ya.
grant
After the show, we headed up Ave B to Lucy's for some drinks.
grant
I think these two are friends of Sascha's (I only took this pic because Grant and I both had a crush on the hot Welsh girl in the middle).
grant
DKNY gives the Grizz a hug.
grant
Another rock shot.
grant
Fiasco hit the stage like a bizzomb.
grant
Grant chatting with Brian C. and the Mark Bibbins (The Notorious B.I.B.)
grant
Grant and company decided to get "glammed" up for the first show. By the second show, they'd decided to call it quits with the make up. Mostly because I think Grant realized that when he's made up he looks like a tranny-version of his super-hot (Lindsay Lohan lookalike) sister, Gemma.
grant
Here's what Grant thinks of me. Hahah.
grant
Emily squats down to closer inspect Grant's "rock socks."
grant
Grant + Gemma = Comedy Gold!
grant
...this. So, now you know.
grant
Leigh and Grant make their "camera faces." Here's a little known fact about these two, it's super hard work for them to make these "sexy" faces. In fact, the moment they relax their faces, they both normally look like...
grant
Grant and Heidi Quarterslot.
grant
...aerial magick.
grant
As always, Grant treated the crowd to a little...
grant
This was a full-on tussle. I would've jumped in and helped Grant out, but to be honest, I was too entertained by the fact that if Grant lost this particular "wrestling match," he'd have to make out with Jake.
grant
Check out Grant using the crook of his elbow to guard his lips against Jake's gay-invasion.
grant
...Jake's wrestled Grant down to the floor and is trying to French him. (Holy Moly, I can't even remember the last time I used "French" as a verb).
grant
The Grizza cleaned up all his pins in the 10th frame and celebrated by doing THE WORM right on the lane!
grant
Next up was Grant and his bowling ball titties. (Bonus points for Fatty's "smells like shit" face in the background).
grant
Saturday night we all met up at Emily's fancy new apartment to go bowling. Grant called to tell us he was on his way and Fatty announced that he was going to hide in the bathroom and jump out when Grant came in the door (Hey, remember Scaring Grant?) So Grant walked in the door and Fatty jumped out screaming (holding a roll of toilet paper and wearing a towel on his head, no less) but Grant hardly flinched this time. Bah. Anyway, on to bowling!
grant
The next mornign we had breakfast with the fam (cinnamon rolls...mmmm) and Grant headed back into town. Meredith decided to stick around a little longer and we...
grant
Mad props to Meredith for managing to keep her cool while being sandwiched between two ha-ha-hunks in man-kinis. I don't know how she did it.
grant
Who's that lucky foggy lady in the middle?
grant
Scotch in the hot tub? Who's more 1978 than us?
grant
Somehow during the course of the night, it came up that we suspected Grant of using "Sun In" to lighten his hair. An accusation that he so strongly reacted to that we all immediatley knew it had to be true. Meredith checks Grant's hair for the color "Golden Jersey Shore Wheat." Yep, it's a match.
grant
And then Grant tried on the hat (and gave me a shy smile). And then he got really angry at me when I showed this picture to my Grandfather. Hahaha. Grant had spent most of dinner asking my Grandfather macho questions about what he'd done in WWII, and so this feminine side of Grant seemed to confuse him. Until I cleared things up by leaning in and explaining "Yeah, we're friends but he's a little light in the loafers if you know what I mean." My Grandfather solemnly nodded. Later Grant kept punching me and saying "I can't believe you said that about me. To a veteran!"
grant
Thumbs up from Grant.
grant
I got up to help him out and was told that he didn't need any help "figuring out his own camera, Goddamnit!" So I took some photos of everyone waiting. Hahah.
grant
Here are the fruits of his labor though. Well worth the wait!
grant
Results: Inconclusive.

After all getting crunked up at The Barn (uh, except for me Dad, because I was the driver) we headed over to The Roxbury Diner (which we all know is really still called The Victoria Diner) for some late night grub. I like how when everyone started throwing gangsigns, my brother's gangsign is to simultaneously pinch both his titties and look "naughty."
grant
The best thing about Grant is that he could be licking her face, but it's just as likely that she's screaming because he's licking her armpit.
grant
...it's time to start doing the "use the flash to take my picture while I shake the fuck out of my head" game again. (This one's still funny but doesn't hold a motherfucking candle to the version he pulled earlier on the train).
grant
Followed by the Group face-licking. And then the next thing you know...
grant
Then came the face-licking.
grant
...round up a crew and head to the local townie bar that's called "The Barn!" Believe it or not, The Barn actually used to be a restaurant called Seafood Shack when I was growing up in town! Seafood Shack. A winning name like that and they still went out of business. Shocking, right? Steak Shanty is gone as well. Go figure.) Anyway, over holidays The Barn is the defacto place that everyone I went to high school with goes to catch up with everyone else. Here's Amy (my brother's girlfriend), Grant, Brett and Meredith preparing for their very first Barn Experience!
grant
Me, Meredith and Grant all dressed up for dinner.
grant
...doing that thing where you shake your head back and forth as hard as you can and capture your face getting all rubbery and contorted when the flash goes off. This is one of the best (and by best, I mean worst!) faces I've ever seen as a result of this practice. Quite simply, incredible.
grant
...Tha Grizza! Talk about the two best Thanksgiving guests of all time! We hopped on an NJ Transit Train headed westward towards Succasunna, NJ (where I grew up!).
grant
Meredith took some nice photos. And then took some pictures of Grant...
grant
Die The on Wednesday night, Grant and Meredith took the NJTransit Train out to NJ with me to spend Thanksgiving dinner with my family! (More of this coming soon in a whole separate entry).
grant
Grant's making a face in this picture like he's already mad about the whole fan joke I made up above (almost 11 months later). Before we headed home for the night, we decided to step into the photoboth and commemorate the night. (Because there's definitely not enough pictures of me and my friends acting stupid).
grant
"Yes, hello. I'm calling from across the bar...can you please turn down your giant fan? As you can probably see, it's making my hair look quite silly. No, I'm over to your left. I'm wearing a blue sweatsh...Hey! Stop laughing! Just turn down your fan, ok?"
grant
And grabbed a coupla beers at Lakeside Lounge.
grant
...we walked back into Manhattan from Siege and Katie's via the Billyburg Bridge.
grant
Grant managed to win this one (but the fact that he's still in the hole for $100 ensures that he'll rise to whatever Siege decideds to bet him on next).
grant
Go!
grant
Ready?
grant
After the movie was over, Grant decided to take on another one of Siege's infamous "Bar Bets." So far Grant was 0 for 2 with Siege's previous bets. The first was a challenge to drink an entire gallon of whole milk in an hour and not vomit (for $100). The second was a challenge to eat ten Saltine Crackers in 60 seconds with no water (for $10). So Grant was anxious to improve his record by eating a certain number of slices of white bread in 60 seconds with no water. (Grant, I don't remember how many slices it was - fill me in).
grant
After we bowed our goodbyes (check out Grant copping a cheap feel in the background...ha!)...

Amy laughing at Tired Grant, The Sad Clown.
grant
...eating junkfood at the Odessa.
grant
...Meredith and Grant (and I forget who the girl on the left is - someone's friend from out of town? A stranger that met on the street?) over on Avenue A. If it's after 4am and you're on Ave A and you've been drinking, there's a pretty darn good chance that you're going to end up...
grant
Friday night we took it easy. Beers at Blue & Gold...
grant
"No, you listen to me, Kurt Loder! I was the star of that show! You hear me? The STAR! I don't care if you don't want me back on for the next season because without me, you got nothing. NOTHING!"
grant
...Grant, and I Keep A Diary new-comer, Jake Bronstein.

The band had planned on having a huge post-show brunch party on Sunday at APT to celelbrate their first gig, but when the gig got cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, no one was sure what to do about the brunch. In the end, the band decided to press-on and have it. Here's Grant, Chris the Greek and Frank!

3/4 of Fiasco lament their cancelled first-show. After a few Cherry Tavern specials to numb the pain, we all headed over to...

We took them to some divey bar in the East Village where Grant and I immediately went into "dancing bear" mode struggling to convince Devin that we're as funny in person as we are on this site.

A little after 2am, we came back into Manhattan and I was reunited with this guy! Hahahaha.

Seriously, who loves posing with drunk strangers more than us? (Ps - Check out Grant's "modern dance" legs. It's a nice touch, don't you think?)
grant
After the insanity of my going away party earlier on in the week at my apartment, my official "last night in NYC" was feeling a little anti-climatic. We all sat around wishing we could think of something appropriate to hallmark the occasion. But after a while we couldn't think of anything and we decided to call it a night. That's when we headed outside and discovered that...
grant
When the place cleared out late that night, Grant decided to humor me one last time by doing a flying David Lee Roth scissorkick off of the fucking bar downstairs. Hahahah. My batteries were dying and my shutter when off just before he launched into the air.
grant
Ok, and this one too.
grant
Amy and Grant getting silly on the couch in the back. (I love this photo so much.)
grant
Speaking of fuckers, here's Grant and me. I met this fucker working at Nerve back in the summer of 2001 and aside from his short-lived stint out in LA, we've been inseparable ever since. Here's me making a face and trying my best to pretend I wasn't going to miss the shit outta him. (Awwww.)

Where we met up with Amanda (seen here in a super-rare sans-glasses photo!) and Grant.
grant
In the AM I met up with Grant and the Fatty for one final Dim Sum brunch down in Chinatown. (Where after years of eating there with us, Fatty finally spoke up and told us "Hey, you know what? I don't even really like dim sum.")
grant
T-minus one day. All packed up and feeling nervous, I opted for a little escapism and went to see an afternoon movie with Grant and Leigh. On the way out, Grant and Leigh both took their turn being the "seed of Chucky."
grant
On Thursday night (T-minus three days!) my roommate Victoria cooked a nice dinner and invited some of my friends over for a low-key dinner party. Here's The Fatty, Tinnz, Charlene and Grant (Sarah was there later on!)
grant
(Grizza, you have any idea what we sang?)

Late night (and noticably drunk at this point) Grant and I sang a duet.

Grant and David demonstrate "The Eiffel Tower of Power High Five" with Miye as the lucky girl "in the middle." Check out the sweat stains - did I mention that by this point in the August night my apartment was about 110 degrees?
grant
I was so hot and sweaty that I actually snuck into my room and changed out of Black T-shirt Number 3 and into Blue T-shirt Number 7. (Yeah, right - like I have seven shirts!)
grant
...Grant took to the karaoke stage.
grant
But the nature of the move busted in this picture I'm going to guess he was singing Rick James' Superfreak.
grant
Amy (one of the few girls I know who can wear a Master of Puppets shirt and mean it) and Grant.
grant
Awwwww! Thanks so much guys! You are the best friends ever. (Sorry I moved back so soon!). I started to put my gifts away and they were all like "No, no, no. After all the time we spent rounding that stuff up, you're wearing it at the party, CALIFORNIA BOY!"
grant
Grant was digging it, though. And speaking of transformations, when did Grant transform into...
grant
...the Berlin-hipster version of Baron Von Kaiser from Mike Tyson's Punch Out. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

On Monday morning, Grant, Doug and I went to Mandarin Court down in Chinatown for a dim sum breakfast...
