At first glance it looked like they were doing some kind of crazy-synchronized rehearsed dance routine... ...the tent looked even prettier from a distance. I loved that Marina loved Dave playing in his OWN wedding band. ;) Six Piece Nastee !The band knows how to get a crowd dancing. It was pretty sweet. Ta-da! ...whereas Dave employed the OPEN AS WIDE AS YOU CAN technique. Haha. Everyone has a unique strategy to ensure your brand new spouse doesn't smash cake into your face. Marina went with the rock-solid "hand poised to intervene" defense... Hahaha. So great. ...the wedding cupcake! We arrived to find the groom and best man surveying the beautiful tent that they'd set up in the back yard. Dave's Uncle Ira, posing here with Dave's mom, got certified to be the officiant at the ceremony. So awesome! Congrats, Brett & Amy! We're so happy for you two. Thanks for having us all down. We had an amazing time! 1am and the dance party was still going strong. ...headed back to the bar for the big dance party that was going on. ...for a duet with Brett. (Anyone remember the song?) ...which led to a huge impromptu party sesh on the beach! Yes! ...and none of could get over similar Steve looks to our grandfather, Hank J. Battjer, on his wedding day. Hahaha. So awesome. Brett and Amy opted for the "simultaneous-cake-feed" method which drastically reduces the chance that only one person will get cake smashed into their face. It's both or none. (None, in their very civilized case). In front of the cake table were a whole bunch of older wedding photos from both our families... Cake cutting time! My parents cutting some serious rug. My dad is ALL about the hustle. Yes! I was followed by Phil, Brett's good friend from college. Then, as best man, I went next! Followed by Amy's sister, Emily. Back at the reception hall, it was time for speeches! Bethany went first. Married-guy ring shot! First dance! Then I stopped by the bridal suite where Emily and Bethany were turning Amy's wedding dress into something more "danceable." Adorable. Adding in Sherwin and Maija! Tom escorting Gram. A little after 4pm, the wedding party met back up on the porch and we headed out to the beach just like we'd rehearsed. Except this time it was FOR REAL! Me with the groom!
