On Monday evening Sarah called me and asked if I wanted to go with to the nightclub Crobar. When I asked her if she was out of her mind, she clarified: "No, I'm asking because Vince Neil (formerly of a small rock outfit called Motley Crue for those of you who didn't grow up in New Jersey in the 80s) is playing there tonight and I have to go for work and interview him after the show." Suddenly, even Crobar seemed tolerable.
Sarah and Hot Indian Nikki. Also know as the F.B.O.V. (Future Bride Of Vin - even thought I get yelled at every time I say that, I still think it's funny).
And by the time I got a second shot off, Sarah's hair was soaked and she'd plugged up the flow with her thumb to avoid smelling malty the rest of the evening.
Sarah attempting to recreate my favorite photo of her ever. My camera went off early so I only managed to capture a little dripple peeking out of the bottle.
Sarah was looking so juggalicious I just couldn't help myself. DISCLAIMER: For the benefith of certain potential readers (Umm, namely Sarah's overprotective brother) I'd like to point out that my mouth isn't actually on Sarah's boobies - it's just an optical illusion - honest!
Right when she got towards the end of the beer, she started pouring the
remainder in her mouth. I have no idea how Uncle
Grambo (in town visiting
from Detroit) managed to keep a straight face.
This is hands down the my favorite picture of Sarah Lewitinn. Right when I ran into her I busted out my cam and she was like "Oh, hold on a sec!" and then started pouring her beer out on her head.
After a thorough bronskying - Amber managed to lure Sarah into the feigned kiss with the old "don't worry, I'll cover your mouth" trick. Then as soon as she got in there she parted her fingers and slipped in the tounge. Savage! (Hey guy in the background, cheer up! Checkered shirts will be cool again soon!)
After she'd finished rolling around on top of that girl she didn't know, Amber hopped up with a quickness to give Sarah a "bronsky." (Credit for that phrase goes to Candy. I was telling her about how strippers put their boobs in your face and shake them and she was like "Oh, you mean a bronsky?" Hahah. I guess all girls with stripper names know all the "inside terms.") Look at Sarah wrinking her face in ecstasy.
With the exception of an upcoming photo where Sarah is pouring an entire beer out on her own head, this is my favorite picture of her. Talking, smoking, drinking, DJing, pimping.
Monday night I met up with Sarah and we headed over to a new karaoke night (shhhh! Don't tell Sid & Buddy I'm cheating!) over at Crash Mansion (which is, hands down, the GIZZAYEST name for an establishment in the history of the world).
Sarah was there to DJ - or "play CDs" as she now says (as she's tired of defending herself to morons who take time out of their incredibly important days to write her lengthy, venomous (and of course anonymous) notes explaining why she's not a "real" DJ).
And then after realizing we only had enough tickets for one of us to ride another ride, Sarah and Steven (who'd watched me writhe with glee on each ride) decided that I should take the remaining tickets and go on one more ride.
Sarah's friend Stephen (who runs a rad, indy label in London) was there with us. After we were done fucking around with the games, we decided to all go in on a book of tickets and experience the thrill of near-death that can only come from ghetto "it took me and the other guy over there that only has one arm 22 minutes to assemble this from off the truck you see over there" carny rides!
On Sunday, there were no more offical SXSW events, so Sarah and I decided to go see a movie. We wanted to see "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and ended up having to take a 25 minute taxi to get there. After the movie, we went to Amy's Ice Cream (which I'd heard about from Tara), and while waiting for her cone, Sarah pulled one of the best "make one eye go crooked" faces I've ever captured with a camera. So fucking great.
Saturday morning, we slept in late and then went to see a screening of the Metallica movie Some Kind of Monster. (Which was better than their last few albums put together).
I got there at 2pm to find Sarah (already shitfaced and holding a Miller High Life Tallboy, NOICE!) on stage cracking up after having gotten to introduce...
On Tuesday, Victoria (the bestest roommate ever) cooked a special dinner and invited some people to our apartment to celebrate the fact that I ended up being offered the job to run the scavenger hunt company.
Mad props to Jon Davis - he lives in the neighborhood and when we ran out of booze just past 4:30am, he saved party from drying up by busting out the number of some super-sketch Chinatown bogeda that will deliver booze and beer 24 hours a day!
All things considered, the place was in pretty good shape. Messy, yes - but nothing was broken or vandalized or stolen. (The one exception being the mysterious disappearance of my sunglasses...but we'll get to that in a bit). Sarah, Laura and Dan all came over (with a pizza!) to help clean up.
Laura and Sarah showed got to my apartment a little before 11pm, helped set up and sound-checked our awesome karaoke stage. (Special thanks to Mike Jurin who saved the karaokeness of the party by generously lending his speakers at the very last moment!)
On Saturday, the morning before the party, I met up with Sarah, Niki, Eva, and Courtney for brunch at Clinton Street Bakery. Sarah and Nikki were both having trouble deciding between dishes so they both ended up ordering two breakfast entrees EACH! That's right, EACH!
Turns out that the brand new party Sarah was DJing was the the very first of the now legendary MisShapes party. We got there just in time to catch the last of Sarah's first set. Here's Sarah with Geordon.
I'd been interviewing for a job to help out a company called Watson Adventures. Before hiring me, Bret, the owner, suggested I participate in one of the hunts they organize. So Sarah, Nina and I headed up to the medieval museum at the Cloisters.
Sad! The small text that you can't read in the pic says "Please call before March 2004!" Anyone up for calling and finding out what they ended up naming the baby? Email me.
