Then Grant and Buddy teamed up for one of the most explosive performances of Van Halen's "Panama" I've ever seen. Between the two of them, they managed to pull about half of and six "Faces of Rock." Here's Grant pulling the "Oh My God!"
karaoke
Hahahaha. And here's Buddy caught in the middle of pulling my favorite "Face of Rock," the "Can You Belive How Fast I'm Playing This Guitar?"
karaoke
Here's Buddy pulling the infamous "Lick the Air!"
karaoke
No, no! You can't hurry love. No! You'll just have to wait. Seriously.

Monday night karaoke was extra-special because there were all these Mafiosa guys there that wandered in after eating at Lombardi's nextdoor. They all sang Frank Sinatra songs.

So we ended up having so much singing at Frank's that we decided to round up a crew and head to Nolita Tavern for some Saturday night Sid & Buddy Karaoke action. Emily Cmielewski was in town from Boston apartment hunting for a place in NYC so she came with Bev (who I also went to high school with) and met us there. (L to R: Bev, MLE, Grant, Fatty and Colin).

Big Daddy tearing it up with Huey Lewis' seminal "I Want a New Drug." Homeboy kicked it so hard he needed not one, but two blonde, hula-clad male dancers. Check out that face; the urgency - can't you see how much Big Daddy wants that new drug?

Frank Picarazzi showed up late night to represent.

I kicked off the night with my version of, um, errrrr, who knows - I guess that's why I shouldn't let over three months go by before I get around to captioning these stupid photos.

Orange scarf? Hey, when you're doing karaoke three times a week after awhile you find you need "props" to "spice things up."

So right when they were bringing the cake out, I got called up to sing. I grabbed the dick off the cake (thinking it was just a plastic dick) and stuffed it down my pants. Only after the song was over did I realize the dick was actually made out of white chocolate and if it wasn't ruined right when I shoved it down my underwear, it was certainly ruined when I let an enthusiastic audience member stub out their cigarette on it (see the ash mark?). Doh. Uh, sorry about that one guys.

After Amanda had finished singing, Tracy Morgan wandered in from the next room (!!!) and asked Frank if he knew how to play "Let's Get it On" by Al Green. He killed it.

Then Big Daddy stepped up to back Seth (check out Tracy and his friend cheering on the white boys in the background).

...and then halfway through the song, took that mother over. Check out Tracy (making the Brian Fellows face!) and Shawn looking on in awe! Hahaha.

After he'd finished singing, one of Tracy's friends (Shawn Wayans, I think) came up on stage and the band kicked off a Stevie Wonder tune. Seth ran up and joined them to first provide some backing harmonies...
Special Bonus! Here's a thirty second video clip of me singing Quiet Riot's seminal metal hit: Cum On Feel Tha Noize. Courtesty of Doug.

Special karaoke gueststar: Doug Jaeger (whose aparently too busy counting his bling to update his goddamned website).
karaoke
Ooooooh! Betsy's showing 'er bum!
karaoke
...and the original Jetsetera line up took the stage for the first time in over three years for a four-way karaoke re-enactment of the seminal Van Halen song, "Hot For Teacher." (In order to really appreciate that last caption, you have to hear me say it in my Casey Kasem voice.)
karaoke
Here's Frank Picarazzi (in a tuxedo shirt, no less) who insisted the prompter be turned off while he was singing because he was, "going 'off book'" for her schmoking version of Lionel Ritchie's "All Night Long."
karaoke
Sarah (aka - "Sexual Bacon") performing a duet of "Summer Nights" (from 'Grease') with Ed (the guy who buys the entire bar round after round of shots).

After everyone woke up we headed around the corner to meet up with the rest of the gang over at Nolita Tavern for Saturday night Sid and Buddy Karaoke.
karaoke
After that, Amy headed home and I went over to Piano's to sing a quick diddy at Sid and Buddy's Karaoke. Here's Stephanie and Buddy tearing it up.
karaoke
But, I mean, they do have sparklers. Sparklers, yo. Happy June!
karaoke
Oh my god! Those are the same flip flops that Bowie wears when he sings this song!
karaoke
And I saved the best for last...check out the ghetto pyrotechnics! That's right, they took sparklers and scotch-taped them to the ceiling for the big "Wanted Dead or Alive" Bon Jovi hair-metal finale!

karaoke
And for the big finale of the night, Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody!"
karaoke
Whoops! Herman Did it Again! He played with your heart! (Whatever ladies, don't buy it. He's! Not! That! Innocent!)
karaoke
What, you don't believe me? See those two smoking hot, blonde hula girls? Yeah, that's right! They got so hot and bothered by my karaoke jam that right after i was done singing they took me in the bathroom and I totally got down with both of them! So who's gay now, huh? Huh?
karaoke
Wait, what's that I gotta have again?
karaoke
Grant freestyles to the BeeGee's classic, "You Should Be Dancin'" (with Buddy on falsetto backup pipes).
karaoke
Oh, that's right. Faith. I gotta have faith.
karaoke
Yo, you can diss and say that karaoke's gay and all. But you clearly have no idea what you're talking about because karaoke makes chicks totally hot and then they want to do you.

Look! Sometimes there's even the occasional celebrity. That's Peter Reigert (he played "Boon" in Animal House, remember), up on stage to sing "Shout." (He was there because it was the wrap-party for a movie he'd just finished directing. Beverly D'Angelo [aka - Ellen Griswold *swoon*] was in the movie too and I was hoping that I'd get to dedicate a karaoke jam just for her, but she was a no-show. Bah.)
karaoke
Matt Lesser The Hairdresser (aka "Sid") and Matt Levine (aka "Buddy).
karaoke
You know what baby's got...
karaoke
On Monday, May 19th at 12:14am history was made as Sarah Lewitinn (of "Ultragrrrl" fame) finally drank enough to climb up on stage and pop her sweet, virgin karaoke cherry! She was a lil' shy at first...
karaoke
Herman in action (most likely kicking his signature rendition of Britney Spears' "Hit Me, Baby [One More Time]") with Sid and Buddy on backup.
karaoke
Oh, did I forget to mention that they have a giant bag of costumes and (if you want) you can dress up as whoever you're singing a song by? Er, or as in this case, you can dress up in random, white jumpsuits. (Sorry guys, I forgot who you're supposed to be here!)

If you've ever had the pleasure of meeting Michael Martin, you might think he was a shy guy - and totally not the type to show up outta nowhere, grab the mic, and represent with a heart-wrenching rendition of the Cars' classic 80's rock ballad, Drive.
karaoke
Grant was getting antsy singing in English, so we made friends with a Chinatown local who brought Grant up on stage to sing a Mandarin tune called "Crystal." Check out the guy's expression as we listens to Grant pretend to sing in Chinese.
karaoke
Mike looks like he's doing "the hustle" in the photo.
karaoke
When Grant ran into a little trouble singing George Michael's "Kissing a Fool," Michael ran up to the stage to lend support with this "lone lighter" salute.
karaoke
Grant coldlamps with Winnie herself.
karaoke
karaoke
Lo and I warmed things up with a not-so-great rendition of the '91 Spin Doctor's jam "Two Princes." (Yo, you might think this song is easy - but don't forget, there's like 2 minutes of hippyesque scatting at the end. Ugh).
karaoke
After dinner we all headed nextdoor to Winnie's for karaoke!
