On Saturday afternoon I met up with Cynthia in the West Village and we went to Dojo for a Japanese lunch. ...and then headed home for an early night and a Japanese Curry. Unnnnngh so good. ...and ate at Dojo by myself! OMG Curry Ya chicken curry and a mango lassi is my autumnal JAM. Back in the city on Thursday and went out for veggie ramen! Blamo! I ate 3 of them. ...okonomiyaki! ...delicious ramen arrived. ...and lots of veggies for my fellow... ...veggie-nibbler. We caught up and got accidentally smashed on sake and then our... Dig in, Amanda! On Sunday night I went over to Amanda's apartment and Chef Grant made us... ...his very excellent version of okonomiyaki , which is like the Japanese streetfood version of latke (and literally translated means "what you want, grilled"). Oh, I want it. My favorite sushi roll is avocado roll with honey-roasted peanuts. Slathered in wasabi. Treat yo self. Dessert after the dessert? Orange jelly & lotus nut-cake for dessert. Wow. Steamed rice & veggies with nori. Pot baked mushrooms, mashed potatoes and vegetable croquettes. Onion soup. The food was really interesting and varied. Veggie sushi and treats! My favorite vegetarian sushi is made with avocados and honey-roasted peanuts! ...ridiculously delicious okonomiyaki ! OMG. First we started things off by ordering WAY TOO MUCH sushi. The inside looks like it was decorated by the set-designer from the original Total Recall movie. (I mean that in a good way.) ...you all are way more fun than Skyrim! Ok, I'll admit it... Some of the things we ordered were served with LED garnishes. ...karaoke at the dinner table! Afterwards, we went out to amazing Japanese restaurant that had... Veggie version for me! Spicy tofu! ...an awesome Japanese dinner. Us vegetarians got tofu tempura. On Sunday night, I met up with a big old group of people at a Japanese restaurant down on the Bowery to celebrate... ...Tonkatsu, which is breaded, deep-fried pork cutlet! (Sort of like the Japanese equivalent of weinerschnitzel.) ...and some gyoza. So we ducked out the rain for some quick yakitori (barbequed meat skewers)... It's like a Michelangelo, but uh, with shrimp. Fancy sushi dinner. ..for a crazy-ass sushi dinner. ...sushi. David moved up to Woodstock for his job and I hardly get to see him anymore (boo!). Fatty and Grant chowing down. Big empty Japanese restaurant. ...a fancy sushi dinner at this great, little sushi place right down the street from Tavis and Laura's place.
