We blew past an open space right near the entrance to the park so while we were at a light waiting to turn around and head back towards it, Grant jumped out of the car to stand in the space and make sure no one else could park there. Hahah.
Once we were in town, our plan was to seek out naughty sexy fun. We asked around a bit and found out there was a rock show going on at the venue called The Chance.
Turns out - there ISN'T ANY! We drove around the town aimlessly for another 35 minutes stopping people and trying to get a bead on something naughty or sexy but came up empty. In the end we headed to a diner because a milkshake will always make things better.
Afterwards we all piled into the Probe (not wanted to risk our lives for the return voyage across the still very chilly lake) and headed back over to Scott's house for a deck fire and some s'more roasting!
The Sunburnt Cow is an Australian-owned establishment. When I saw that they had "Kangaroo Steak" on the menu, I decided I had to try it. Here's Grant posing with my (weird-ass) dinner.
On Friday, I went to see Grant and Fatty in (the now defunct band) Fireworks Go Up play a show at Don Hill's. If you squint, you'll notice two parenthetical blurs in the middle of the stage - those were created by Grant's feet during a double-legged DLR kick that I managed to just barely capture.
Hey, hey! Look who's back in town! Woooooo! That's right, well rested from a jaunt in Spain, the Grizza met up with Vin and I at the Chinatown blacktop park to play night frisbee with the new light-up frisbee I got.
Ok, now I've switched over to my "fancy cam." Here's Grant inside the bat mitzvah reception. We'd been assured by both the party planners and the Brenner parents that the party was going to be totally over the top. We got there, and while the place was fancy and there was an impressive spread of food, we were mildly disappointed. Beyond the bevy of be-sequined blouse-wearing grandmas (as seen here in the background) there wasn't much bling to be found.
Grant (with brand new Travis Bickle mohawk!) who was babysitting the Fatty's car while we were in Texas, was rad enough to save me $30 bones by picking me up at JFK. Thanks again to Fatty, Sarah and Caryn! I had the bestest time ever.
Grant and I ran into Cat (whom we'd both been introduced to previously by former Nerve intern Sarah Harrison). Cat in turn introduced us to a certain special girl who happened to be out celebrating her birthday that night...
And this time we were joined by karaoke first-timer Amy Albano! (Amy have known each other since 6th grade. We were roommates in college and in two different apartments in NYC! She was also one of the four people responsible for building the Indoorvillage!)
Well, um, it's not. Grant managed about 3 spins before he lost his balance and sent Amber careening into the stage. (Which, because I knew was coming, I was able to masterfully capture with my camera).
And then late night, I met up with Amber and Grant at M Bar for a night of Sid and Buddy Karaoke! Woo! The moment we walked in the door we were handed shots - compliments of...
After we were done watching Fatty writhe suggestively in a manner that recalled Tawny Kittain in a Whitesnake video, the three us of walked down to Mandarin Court for a Chinee dim sum breakfast celebration.
And once we'd filled our gullets with delicious party food, we retreated to the safety of the coatroom and entertained ourselves. Here's Grant rocking out on a headless Steinberger electric bass (c'mon, you know you love Winger).
On Friday, a whole bunch of us headed over to Arlene's Grocery to see Grant join Fatty in playing with Fireworks Go Up for the first time. (After only five or six appearances as their rhythm guitarist, Grant left due to "creative differences.") Boo.
Oh, and because he was still shit-hammered and decided that it would be really funny for me to take a picture of him sneaking into my spare bedroom and waking Grant from his drunken slumber by attacking him "Evil Tiger Ninja" style. Hahah. This picture doesn't even begin to convey how "not ok" with this Grant was.
This was too fucking funny: Jen Choi and Amber were arguing over who should get to drink an errant shot of whiskey (that was likley there because we're all girly men who were too pussy to drink it). Jen Choi was like "How about we each drink half?" Amber was like "Sounds good. Here, I'll drink the first half." Then after pausing for a moment, she yelled "SUCKER!" and shot the shot. I managed to catch Jen's face right when she started to realize she'd been had. That just goes to prove the old adage: Never trust a heavily tattooed girl in a hot-pink lycra shirt to share her whiskey.
...concuss himself out as rammed the can into his head full-force while doing the old "Hey look at me! I'm the guy with a mohawk who crushes cans on his head" trick.
Grant had recently given himself a Travis Bickle-inspired haircut and it was making him act, well, funny. Even with a "pre-crushed" can, Grant almost managed to...
Despite the fancy dress shirts we wore because of Pepper insistence that they would help us "fit in better," we soooo didn't fit in. (Best photo ever).
After the hunt, we went back to David & Miye's apartment sans David (who's a massage therapist and he'd gotten called away to give a massage in the middle of our hunt). Grant spent the majority of our time their trying to convince Miye...
Chris the Greek was up visiting from DC to attend Grant's "Welcome Back from Hell-A" party. Here we are sending him off after some Tuesday morning brunch (which, is one of the finer points of not having a day job).
After a long day of moving, we all headed back to my apartment on the Bowery where Frank and Liz thanked us with pies from Lombardi's! Mmmmmmmmmm! Best pizza in the world. Then after dinner...
We made it to Liz's a little early; Frank and the rest of the early birds were still over at his apartment packing all of his belongings into the Uhaul that was eventually coming over to get all of Liz's stuff as well.
While Grant kept it real and opted to marvel at the "special edition" fluorescent pink, snakeskin-patterned BC Rich Warlock. fluorescent pink snakeskin??? What kind of asshole would want that?
