Around 1:30, the birthday girl realized that she'd had a bit too much to drink and needed to take a little party time-out nap in my office. (Don't worry, Ellen. The same thing happened to me on my birthday!)
We started walking over to Sarah's house at 5:30. I secretly texted the party and told them that we were on the way and that anyone who was there from out of town should go up on to the roof and hide for a while so that Meredith wouldn't get tipped off to the fact that something was up!
Birthday friends at the scoring console! Also: Sean looks like a homeless man in this photo. ALSO: I wonder why Ellen is leaning away from him like that. It's almost like she's dodging a bullet or something. ZING!
Ta-da! It's hard to tell from this photo but it's a picture of an Atari 2600 joystick with a banner underneath it that says "OLD SCHOOL." (It also says something underneath in binary: 0011010000110010. Which if you convert to ASCII is "42." Maybe a Hitchhiker's Reference?)
Look at me totally off my mark! I was pulling my best tough guy face when everyone else had clearly decided (even Piper!) that it was a cute and cuddly moment. Check out Piper's tongue! As soon as we saw it sticking out in this photo, we decided to play our favorite Piper-game...
Later that night a whole bunch of people came over to hang and play Cranium! L to R: Josh, Posh, Niki, Amanda, Quinn, Faran, Rosie, Murdo and Ellen with her arms full of dogs!
On Friday night I went over to Sarah's for dinner and I brought along the "Pasture Pals" Christmas present that Meredith had picked out for Ellen. Look at that smile! Can you tell how much she liked it?
On Wednesday night Ellen and I went out to dinner with a band manager we both like and afterwards he took us all to Flash Dance (awww, yeah expense account!). Here's Ellen nervously laughing about getting ready to walk into a strip club for the first time!
Ellen decided to go avant-garde and challenge our perceptions of "functional clothing" with this stunning piece entitled "Crotch Bow." Tres chic! Paris awaits, mon petit génie!
I hadn't really planning on doing anything to celebrate my actual birthday, but I relented and decided to text a few people and see if anyone was available to meet up for a last-minute, low-key dinner at Kate's Joint. A few people texted back so at 8:30 Meredith and I headed over to Kate's to meet up with Ellen, Vinay...
Siege, Ellen, Sarah (and KT - not pictured because she showed up later in the afternoon) = BEST. FRIENDS. EVER! Keep in mind, this wasn't about helping one person move...this was about taking taking our U-Haul to BOTH of apartments, and then unloading all of our stuff into our new place. Oooof!
Schweaty! Ellen and Meredith are showing off rolls of that packing saran wrap that I used tons of (because you can use it to just bind everything together instead of having to pack everything in boxes. It's awesome).
As "those two" got closer, we realized it was Ellen and Leigh and that we'd just been busted checking out our own friends! Ellen was there with Piper...
Later that afternoon, Mer and I went to Tompkins Square to relax in the grass and read. We looked up from our books and saw two totally hot chicks crossing the park with tiny dogs. We were like "Whoa, check out those two."
