showing 2012 only · show all years...Chaim Soutine's Order out of Chaos. (This was excellent! I wish I could've taken some photos in the gallery).
I also saw Monet's huge installation of waterlillies, Les Nymphaes.Portrait of Dali by Philippe Halsman entitled......and you see a caricature of the artist! This form of graphical projection is called Anamorphosis.I also really liked this painting At first glance it looks like some kind of mosquito-like insect, but then you notice the metal cylinder...Knee-key, bottle-leg, lobster-claw detail. The sculpture installations are pretty great.I'd never really gotten to see all that much of Dali's work.I liked a lot of the stuff they had at this museum.Maybe I'm just partial to the captioned-photo format, though.Strong stuff.My favorite thing there was Carrie Mae Weems' "From Here I Saw What Happened and I Cried" (1995-96)This entire room was filled with TVs that are making crazy patterns. Megatron Matrix by Nam June Paik. Not for the epileptic.
