catrinel's birthday
On Thursday night I went out to Brooklyn to celebrate Catrinel's 28th birthday!
Amanda and Scott with the birthday girl in her kitchen upon our arrival!
Even though it was a Thursday night, everyone had off work the next day for the 4th of July. Even though this photo was taken right around midnight, most people were still arriving and hanging out in the kitchen.
Pretty ladies looking pretty.
Cynthia hard at work in the kitchen preparing Cat's birthday cake!
DOOOOOOOD, are you kidding me? This photo makes me drool.
Cake is for me?
CAKE IS FOR MEEEEE!
Speech!
Wish! (PS - If you look at Sarah's dress you'll notice that I must've accidentally used Cat's wish. Sorry about that, Sar.) (PPS - I love the fact that she's blowing out two haphazardly-placed votive candles Hahah.)
Pose for photo pretending you're cutting the cake!
Actually cut the cake!
Meredith was there, but she was really just trying on lesbian fashion hats and biding her time until the cake was served. Then she was gone.
Cat's one of those people who's is friends with lots of different groups of people! So her parties are always great because you are guaranteed to meet new people!
Some of the new people I met decided to lead the party in a collaborative dance. First you throw your hands up!
Then you roll into a ball on your back!
Now turn over!
Ok, now race to the couch! First person who gets off the couch, races across the room...
...and gets their HEAD SMASHED by Sarah Harrison IS THE WINNER! (Or something like that).
Amanda and Cynthia manned the music station, made a party-playlist...
...and inadvertently started a hula hooping party!
Catrinel showing off her moves.
This is Fran. She had serious hula skills.
Regular ol' hula hooping quickly grew tiresome and we immediately moved onto several make-them-up-as-you-go games...
...all which involved trying to through the hula hoop...
...with lots of backspin...
...and then you celebrate while someone tries to run through it?
Success! (Possibly!)
Her Royal Birthday Highness.
This picture is great in so many different ways. My favorite part about this picture is looking at Cynthia and Amanda and realizing that they totally remind me of...

...Vin and Josh from pretty much every photo I have of them in college. Here's a pic of Vin and Josh from 1998 for comparison's sake.
Cynthia, Scott and Cat.
Birthday uh, mandolin?
LESBIAN BED DEATH will be playing a show near you shortly (on mandolins).
Buddies. Scott, Amanda, Cynthia, Cat, Fran, Cristie and Linda.
Couch-hug for the birthday girl!
MOAR HOOPING. Linda doing her thing. I can't believe this photo predates the ZEF SIDE video.
These girls might look regular old wacky Williamsburg girls, but they were not. They were wacky Bucharest girls from Romania AND THEY WERE AWESOME. Check out the girl in the background tapping her friend on the shoulder - "I'm hooping next - cue up my jam an' shit."
SHA-POW!
Color them HOOP-DAZZLED.
Amanda celebrates her awesome shirt.
Fran. (Bonus points to CAt for rocking out in the back)
I could watch...
...Fran hula hoop forever.
Srsly.
Speaking of awesomely tiny shorts, Linda sat down, tuned up the mandolin and she and her equally pants-challenged friend teamed up for...
...a mandolin-fueled duet called "__________________." (Please enter your suggested song titles in the comment section at the end of the page. And be NICE because these two are adorable and you know it).
More hoop throwing.
More hoop catching.
More hoop rolling. (Oh, and Catrinel's also playing with a hula hoop in the foreground). This photo makes me cackle every time I look at it.
Party clean up time.
Linda played Catrinel a tender Romanian folk-mopping song.
Me and the birthday girl!
Thanks for having us all over, gorgeous! We had so much fun at your party!
Love, me, Amanda and Scott (Sorry about cutting off your head, BTW).
Homeward bound.
Splitting a cab.
Over the bridge.
Then under the bridge.
We can walk from here.
