the june roundup: part two
Here are all the photos I took during the second half of June 2008 that didn't make it into their own entry.
Saturday, June 14th
After a crazy-late night at Hanger Bar the previous night, here's me after 2 hours of sleep all dressed up in a cab on the way to Merdith's cousin's wedding in Brooklyn.
Ben and Ali (Meredith's cousin)!
Their wedding cake looked like 3 tiers of bamboo and had panda bears on it! Congrats!
Meredith and her parents.
Looking gangsta in polka dots.
Me showing off Meredith's mom's bling on my pinky. It's a good look for me, no?
Monday, June 16th
Not only was this guy's outfit amazing (he looked like a villain in a video game or something), but he had a monogrammed backpack that made me LOL. Here's me trying to quietly sneak up behind him to get a better photo.
Totally FKD!
Tuesday, June 17th
I try to take photos every day. Some nights I go out and do crazy shit, other nights I stay at home, take photos of the crazy powerplant outside our window...
...and watch GLADIATOR.
Friday, June 20th
On Friday evening I stopped by David K's apartment and we hung out a bit. On the way home, I met his next door neighbor who was outside walking her pet bunny rabbit! A-dorable.
Way later on in the night, I went over to Hanger Bar because this adorable baby-moron was DJing (a 90s party, I think?).
Michael, Karen and Peter!
Lisa, me and Zoe. (PS - Check out my sassy tennis mom hair!) (PPS - Sorry, Mom!).
On the way to the bathroom I heard what sound like shenanigans coming from behind a half-wall that was propped up to hide a storage closet so I stuck my camera over the wall to do a photojournalistic investigation. Secret make out SCOOP!
I like how everyone is kind of doing their own thing in this photo. (Lisa's thing wins).
Lisa is most definitely not pee shy.
Saturday, June 21st
On Saturday morning we met up with Lisa and Pauly and took the A out to Far Rockaway.
The lovely boardwalk.
Usually we go to the western, more deserted part of Rockaway Beach, but this time we went to the main beach so that Pauly could surf.
Handsome beach kids.
Check out Pauly showing off the fiercest of his professional beard modeling poses.
I tried on his fedora but on my tiny pin-head it ended up looking like a bowler hat that Blossom's friend Sixx would wear.
Heading back to the subway.
Anyone else recognize this road from driving on it in Grand Theft Auto 4?
Just me?
Elevated subway.
Subway leaving us on the 1st Avenue platform.
This is probably the best beach hair I've ever had. It makes me want to get a body-wave perm so bad.
After a lengthy post-beach nap, I headed out to Williamsburg to some bar (because a band was playing? Someone was DJing?).
My main man Vin was there. I kept trying to get us both to make ganster faces like we usually do...
...but Vin kept on laughing (like he usually does). (By the way, any time I'm making faces like this in photos that's usually a leading indicator that I'm on my way to CRUNKEDSVILLE).
Look how pretty these two are with their shiny hair! What are you guys doing, using Mane N' Tail together?
Pauly, Zoe and some people I don't know.
IT WAS AN HONEST MISTAKE! This poor girl walked past me thinking she was my friend Sarah, I ran up behind her on the dance floor and started grinding all up in her booty from behind like POW! So I'm about 10 seconds into my booty dance when suddenly, the girl who is most-definitely NOT my friend Sarah turns around and just looks at me like, "Seriously?"
Instead of trying to explain, I ran away, went across the bar, found Sarah, dragged her across the bar and was like "THIS IS WHO I THOUGHT YOU WERE AND I'M SO SORRY!" Hahaha. Then I took this photo! Twinsies! (Sorry that you had to be subjected to the way I dance with all my poor female friends!)
Brandon was there.
We left the other bar around 3am and headed down the street to Rosemary's Greenpoint Tavern (so that we could get even drunker).
Well, actually - I think Zoe was pretty sober. Lisa, Pauly and me were full-on shithammered at this point.
Us three drunk ones all ordered "big beers" which are 32oz styrofoam cups of beer that completely cover your entire face when you drink out of them. Hahaha.
Only Pauly's eyebrow is visible.
You think after getting so drunk on "big beers" that I french-kissed a senior citizen on my birthday back in 2003, I would've learned my lesson. But, NOPE!
Zoe played it safe and got a "small" (aka - normal) sized beer.
What time is? Oh, TIME FOR A GUNSHOW?
This one's for the ladies.
Rosemary's is also a great place to go when you're wasted because you can get totally rowdy and nobody even blinks.
I bet Zoe really regrets that she didn't abide by our spur of the moment "NO SHIRTS IN THE BAR AFTER 3:55am" party-policy.
Hey. Put your shirt on...
...it's time to go home.
I can see our house from here.
This photo is pretty representative of my vision at the time.
Pauly is a knee-kisser.
I got home a little before 5am and found this little nugget wide awake and reading nerdy scifi novels (Alastair Reynolds!) in bed. Awww.
Sunday, June 22nd
Grant was in town visiting from he and Aki's new home in Whistler, BC (that's in Canada) so we all went over to Fatty's for a backyard BBQ! Here's David, Grant and the Fatty (who's clearly getting ready to do something inappropriate/gay with that ear of corn).
Wednesday, June 25th
On Thursday morning I got up super early and got the to office before 6am to help make a video about the yellow pages for work. Check out the office that we redecorated to be totally covered in Yellow Pages..complete with chair made entirely of phone books!
Check out the contents of one of my former co-worker's desk: Books on statistics and Bayesian Data Analysis...
...headphone and a learn to dance flier.
No Partner Necessary! (Awwww).
Another shot of our phone book office!
You know, sitting in a chair made out of phone books. No big deal.
In addition to an office decorated with phone books, we also had Jason...
...and Ben wearing armor made out phone books.
Just a phone book gladiator hanging out at his desk. No big deal.
Setting up for the big, Yellow Pages gladiator fight-sequence!
Everybody ready?
ACTION! Hahaha.
Saturday, June 28th
On Saturday, a whole bunch of us went back out to Far Rockaway for a beach day...
...but it started raining after we'd only been there for 30 minutes!
We tried waiting it out on the boardwalk...
...but ended after 20 minutes of drizzling with no sign of blue skies in sight, we decided to call it a day...
...and headed back to the subway.
Snacks and treats made the rain tolerable!
Checking out pics on the subway ride home.
It's pretty much impossible to make tough guy faces when you have beach hair and a pink towel, but that sure as hell didn't stop the likes of us!
Monday, June 30th
On Monday after work, the setting sun was lined up perfectly with the Manhattan street grid. Happy June 2008!
