lisa's karaoke birthday

Ok, so there's not too much of a narrative here - but there are way too many pictures in here that make me smile to not do an entry out of this night! Lisa and I met on the INTERNET and when she moved to New York City she emailed me. I totally thought she was some internet hussy and that we were totally going to make out. But then I showed up to meet her and she was there with some beardy dude. But I was like, no biggie, because he seemed fun. We sang karaoke and had a decent time, but I was busy and they were busy and we never really called each other.

A couple of months later, I ran into her and the beardy dude (who turned out to be named Pauly, by the way) in a store on 7th Street. We ended up talking and hanging out again, and the second time around we all became friends.

Fast forward to the present and now Lisa and Pauly are our good friends and they come over almost every single Sunday night for "Family Night." That's what we call it when we all buy junk food, order Dominos pizza (have you tried the bread bowl yet? Jesus!), drink beers, smoke trees, eat snacks, and usually play video games (Wii Fit!) or watch TV (HBO when there are series on, Wifeswap if not). I am glad I met them and I thank the internet every day for bringing them into my life.

Ok, enough with the backstory. Here are some pictures of us getting wasted and singing karaoke for Lisa's birthday on Tuesday night!

Here's Pauly and a couple of Lisa' friends scouring the karaoke book looking for jams to sing... ˆ pauly ˆ

...and here's the birthday girl! (Double Bud-Fisting it, no less!). ˆ lisa ˆ double fist ˆ

Karaoke is mostly about pretending to care what other people are singing while you wait with butterflies in your stomach for your name to be called. ˆ lisa ˆ pauly ˆ

Lisa's first jam of the night.... ˆ lisa ˆ karaoke ˆ

...was I Remember You by Skid Row! ˆ lisa ˆ karaoke ˆ

Trying to hit the notes that Sebastian Bach (not his real name, btw) hits in that song is no easy feat. And it forces you to make awesome faces when you sing. Like this! ˆ lisa ˆ karaoke ˆ

And this! ˆ lisa ˆ karaoke ˆ

Then a couple of songs later, Lisa and her friend (Lisa, what's her name?) did a duet together. ˆ lisa ˆ duet ˆ karaoke ˆ

Awwww, look how cute and smiley the two of them were! ˆ lisa ˆ duet ˆ karaoke ˆ laugh ˆ

Look at Pauly being all in love an' shit. ˆ pauly ˆ

I learned something new that night! You see, there are a lot of songs that you think will be great karaoke songs, but you forget that they have really long instrumental outros where you can't sing so you just have to stand up there and dance around or something until the song is over and it's uncomfortable for everyone involved. If you ever find yourself in this situation, it turns out that the best thing you can do is to... ˆ karaoke ˆ

...throw the microphone down onto the floor and just start pumping out some pushups until the emcee announces the next person! ROCK! ˆ karaoke ˆ push ups ˆ

Next up, Lisa! ALL LISA. ALL THE TIME! ˆ lisa ˆ karaoke ˆ

Singing The Greatest Love of All by Whitney! (And there's Nicole in the background looking all pretty and fawny in the background).

And if by chance, that special place that you've been dreaming of leads you to a lonely place, find your strength in... ˆ lisa ˆ nicole ˆ karaoke ˆ

...LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE! ˆ lisa ˆ karaoke ˆ

A little before 3am, Lisa and Pauly's friend Derek stopped by to dedicated a birthday jam to the birthday girl. ˆ lisa ˆ karaoke ˆ

Then Lisa and her friend did another duet! ˆ lisa ˆ duet ˆ karaoke ˆ

If I Could Turn Back Time by Cher!

They ended the song on the floor. I love this photo so much ˆ lisa ˆ drunk ˆ karaoke ˆ

Then, Lisa closed out the night by serenading Pauly with Eternal Flame by The Bangles. ˆ lisa ˆ karaoke ˆ
