scott and erika's wedding: part two
Scott and Erika got married! Here are the pics from the reception. [Back to the Part One: The Wedding Ceremony]
Party people getting their apps on during cocktail hour.
Wedding party in the hallway.
Rem and Mer looking real pretty in their dresses.
Jeff helping Liam with his cumberbund.
Me and Kent with our "cocktail hour" smiles.
At 6pm cocktail hour ended and they opened up the reception hall. After everyone was seated, the emcee got on the mic and introduced Scott and Erika as "Mr. and Mrs. Jentzen"...
...and they came out with their three kinds in a mini-procession! The best part about the whole bit? The fact that they chose Welcome to the Jungle as the song the DJ blasted when they came into the room. Amazing!
Everybody crowded around the dance floor and Scott showed off his moooooves.
Awwww.
While Scott danced with Erika...
...Michael clapped politely from the sidelines. But he was only biding his time. As soon as the song was over...
...he cut in with the quickness and proceeded to light a disco inferno on the floor. He even kicked it off with a genuine "finger pointing straight up in the air" Travolta move! Check it out! Unbelievable! I thought it was gonna be downhill from there...
...but Michael proceeded to take it to another level! Homeboy hit the ground to show off his "floor moves!"
Amazing!
Not even in the second grade and the kid's already a dance floor heart breaker!
Abbey with her dad!
It was so exciting!
Family dance!
Kent and Matthew.
After the big intro, everyone returned to their seats...
...and Scott and Erika took the dance floor solo for their "first dance."
Sooooo good!
After the first dance, Tim took the mic to give his Best Man speech.
Hahaha. I love this photo. You can totally see that Scott's praying that Tim doesn't say something embarrassing.
But no need to worry! Tim kept it clean and Scott got off easy.
Then it was dinner time! Meredith showing off the fancy fruit appetizer!
Mmmmmmm! Pineapple-y.
Scott gives Erika the "crisis averted" kiss. Hahaha.
After everyone was finished eating, disco lights came on which meant it was time for...
...MORE DANCING! Here's Erika dancing with Cassidy.
I swear that I'm not making this up. Everyone was dancing but when the guests saw that little Michael was walking towards the dance floor, they actually cleared out of the way and made a circle for him just so they could see his moves again!
Michael was happy to oblige them. Sha-pow!
The big floor finale!
Then he paired up with his cousin Cassidy for a dance.
It was adorable.
Seriously. The entire wedding party was like "Awwwww."
Mom's so proud of her Tiny Dancer.
In the midst of all the dancing I went over and made friends with some of Erika's relatives that had come up from Texas for the wedding. They were the nicest people ever.
And I still don't believe that this guy really doesn't know who Derek Smalls is. Because I refuse to believe that I'm the first person to have mentioned his resemblance.
Hahaha. Amazing.
On with the dance party! My favorite part of all weddings is when the DJ invariably plays Shout by The Isley Brothers.
Everyone always jumps around and throws their hands up in the air and dances their asses off.
I tried to take a photo of Meredith dancing but she jumped right as my flash went off and instead I ended up with this awesome shot of Mer's airborne boobies. Yes!
Matthew and Kent dancing it on out.
I want you to know I said I want you to know right now, yeah! You been good to me baby Better than I been to myself, hey! hey! An if you ever leave me I don't want nobody else, hey! hey! I said I want you to know-ho-ho-hey! I said I want you to know right now, hey! hey!
Hahaha. Meredith catching her breath after the song was over.
Then it was time for cake!
At each person's table setting was a little silk bag filled with puzzle pieces. When you put the puzzle together, it was a picture of Scott, Erika and their three kids! The puzzle wasn't enough entertainment for the table, so after we'd finished putting them together, Meredith used the bags that the puzzle came in...
...to put on a "puzzle bag puppet show!"
I reluctantly agreed to puppeteer along.
Much to Steve's amusement.
After dessert, the dance floor heated back up. This time it was due to the other song that all wedding DJs will eventually play...
..The Electric Slide!
Hahaha. The look on Tim's face as he watched thirty guests perform a coordinated line dance was pretty priceless.
After the line dancing was over, I went out to the bar to get a drink and managed to capture this amazing shot of Erika and her dad doing a shot of tequila together! Ha!
Around 10pm, the DJ announced that the next song would be the last song of the night and everyone hit the dance floor for one last dance.
After the last dance, we bid farewell to our new friends...
...and then piled into a van that was shuttling people from the reception over to the hotel where everyone was staying. Here's Meredith, Steve and Steve's wife.
Stephie and Jeff (who was awesomely crunked out of his mind).
After the shuttle dropped us off, we decided to get out of our "fancy clothes" and change into something more comfortable. We didn't have a room at the hotel (we were planning on just driving back to my parent's house) so we just changed in the parking lot. Hahaha.
Nudy party in the dark corner of the parking lot!
Meredith jumping for joy after getting into comfie clothes.
Hahaha. Or maybe she was just...
...really, really drunk.
Before we even made it into the hotel for the reception after party, we ran into Jeff and Terri on the way in and Jeff was like "I BROUGHT A TON OF FIREWORKS!" Hahaha.
YEEEEEEEEEEEES! We quickly rounded up some other wedding guests and took everyone to around the hotel to a nearly-empty out of the way parking lot.
Teamwork! Jeff and Steve working together to build a launch pad for of of the many HUGE bottle rockets that Jeff had brought.
Success!
After snapping this pic of Steve lighting the fuse on the next rocket, I kept my finger on the shutter...
...and managed to capture this totally insane action shot of the rocket taking off! Check out the rocket's stick still in the frame! (Bonus points to Steve for managing to throw out a "thumbs up!")
After we'd shot all the big rockets, we moved on to the smaller rockets. We ended up lighting them ten at a time so that they wouldn't be a "let down" after their bigger counterparts.
Terri and a friend hard at work braiding rocket fuses together.
Hahaha. Look at Jeff's face. That's a "kid on Christmas morning" expression if I've ever seen one. Getting giddy about some of the "mortar ball" fireworks that we launched after exhausting all the smaller rockets.
And then for the grand finale, Jeff busted out 1,000-firecraker WOLF PACK!
Before...
...and after! (It was awesome. All 1,000 firecrackers went off in ten seconds of noisy insanity).
The air in the parking lot was a smoky haze for the next twenty minutes. Hahaha.
Just when we were about to head back inside, it turns out that Terri and her friend still had a few small bottle rockets left so we stuck around for the real (somewhat anticlimactic) finale.
Terri showing off her gunpower-covered "firework hands." Hahaha.
Scott the groom!
Reminay and Tim.
A little after midnight, Stephie announced that she was going to "take all the pins out of her hair."
A task which took more than five minutes!
Hahahah. Check out how many pins she had in there! There were easily more the FIFTY pins!
Kent, Scott and Erika.
By 2am, there were only a few of us left standing...and we were all pretty, pretty drunk.
So we ordered pizzas.
Mmmmmm. Pizza.
After everyone had finished eating, we called it a night around 2:30am. Congratulations Erika and Scott!
Meredith and I had originally planned on driving back to my parents house, but then we got drunk and Stephie and Kent saved us from trying to get a taxi in suburban NJ at 3am and graciously invited us to take the other bed in their hotel room. Thanks, guys!
Sunday, July 1st
The next morning we woke up just in time to catch everyone in the lobby on their way out!
Abbey showing off her drawing. (Of a teddy bear jumping rope while a fairy flied overhead???)
Matthew and Cassidy.
Fireworks aftermath in the parking lot.
Hahahaha.
Sorry about all the noise, other non-wedding hotel guests!
Back at my parent's house, we relaxed and did some napping.
And then later that night, we went and saw Ratatouille before catching a train back to NYC! Congrats again, Scott and Erika! Thanks so much for inviting us to your wedding! We had a great time!
