the december roundup: part one
Here are all the pics I took back during the first half of December 2006!
Friday, December 1st
Around 3am on Friday night I walked over to Revolver to hang out with Gurj who was there playing records.
We had ourselves a little in-booth dance party...
...and then we smooshed our faces!
Hahahaha.
Monday, December 4th
On Monday Meredith gave me a human-hair wig...
...and then fell asleep on the couch...
...while I played Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess until 5am in the morning. (When I get into a video game, I pretty much get obsessed. I end up staying up all hours playing them just so I can beat them and get on with my life). I named my character's horse "Ponyhole" and when this gem of dialogue popped up on screen, I felt it merited a screenshot.
Thursday, December 7th
On Thursday night I went to The Annex to celebrate Lawrence's birthday! He'd decided to have a karaoke party and this year got Lord Easy & Chris Goldteeth to host the festivities!
Here they are kicking off the night (and you can see the tuxedoed birthday boy in the background). (Bonus points to Lord Easy for his homemade Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five On the Strength shirt!)
Happy Birthday, Brother Lawrence! I love that he wore a tux. So great. All the photos that have the red "ST" logo in the bottom left corner were taken by Brad Walsh for Stolen Transmission and I stole a bunch of his pictures because 1) They're great. And 2) because I was so busy getting drunk and singing karaoke that I didn't take as many pics as I normally do!
Feeling it.
Lawrence and Chris.
The Lewitinns! Lawrence and Sarah doing a sibling duet!
Then Mandy came up for a birthday-boy duet!
Soooo good!
Kimila! I girl SLAYS at karaoke!
She ended up diving off the stage and mixing it up with the crowd!
This night was probably one of the best karaoke nights I've ever been to (and I've been to A LOT of karaoke). Pretty much every single person that hit the stage went full-out and sang their heart out. So when it was finally my turn to sing, I knew I had no choice but to go with some Jovi.
I teamed up with Chris and we sang You Give Love (A Bad Name).
Hahaha. Chris and I rocking dueling air guitars.
Here's a video (that I LOVE) that Dennis Crowley shot of Chris and I singing this song.
Crowd shot. Here's a picture that Brad took of Dennis filming the video above. I dare you to get more meta than that.
Kevin K. took the stage and was joined by John Carney who helped him out with some interpretive dancing!
Dennis Crowley hit the stage around 3:30 for his signature Wanted Dead of Alive, another can't-miss crowed-pleaser from the Jov.
Then Kevin sang a song.
Then Kevin and Dennis teamed up for a DUET!
A few times, there were songs picked that resulted in the crowd rushing the stage and turning it into a group sing-a-long.
See what I mean about it being an epic karaoke night?
Jenny Penny and Sarah duet!
Brian and Sarah ugly-face duet!
Add a little Jenny Penny and you've got an ugly face trio!
Hahaha.
Shruti and Sarah rushed the stage to sing backup for this dude.
Considering the timestamp on this photo says 4:09am, I'm guessing this photo was taken as (a totally blottoed) Lawrence took the stage to (angrily) thank everyone for coming before he sang the last song of the night. Lawrence, why are you waving a dollar around? Does anyone remember what was going on here?
Lawrence didn't let the late hour or his extreme intoxication stand in the way of TOTALLY DELIVERING on the last song of the night. Talk about going big right to the end...his finale included...
...a motherfucking STAGE DIVE into the crowd! Thanks again to Brad Walsh for being there with a camera, otherwise this moment would've been lost to history forever!
Lord Easy and I made the catch!
And thus ends one of my favorite karaoke nights of all time.
Happy Birthday, Lawrence!
Friday, December 8th
Lawrence was waaaay to drunk to make it home from his party so he spent the night on our couch! We spent the next day working off our hangovers with a little Wii Bowling! Here's Lawrence showing off his bowling form!
Saturday, December 9th
On Saturday night, Fatty and I met up to head out to Brooklyn for Frank and Liz's annual holiday party! Neither of us know jack-shit about wine so I was more than happy to let Fatty play sommelier at the wine store. He ended up going with this vintage bottle of "Ey" because he liked the colors and the picture of the horsie...and I couldn't help but agree!
The Picarazzi Family! Frank, Liz and Baby Lydia!
Uncle Fatty getting to know Lydia.
Hahaha.
When I got home later that evening, Meredith showed me her monkey face.
Wednesday, December 13th
On Wednesday I went out and ended up running into the guys from Group Sounds and we ended up out on a bender. About four seconds after I took this photo, that blond girl slapped Jared right in the face. Hahahah.
Thursday, December 14th
On Thursday night I went to see Nightmare of You play!
OMG, Brandon smiled at me!
Saturday, December 16th
On Saturday night my parents came into town for the day! After walking around and having lunch in our neighborhood, we went back to our apartment so my parents could try out our new Wii! My mom actually played a video game and liked it!
Meredith going for the spare!
Later that evening, we took the subway up to Times Square because my parents wanted to see the picture of Meredith and I on the side of the MTV building. (It was the first time either Meredith or I had seen it too!)
Saturday, December 16th
On Saturday night I went to see the Ooh Las play at MisShapes!
I ended up staying after hours and meeting Sandra's friends Terese (swoon!) and Jelena who were in town visiting!
Cute!
Sunday, December 17th
On Sunday night I went to a holiday party at Apartment 3a!
They'd even managed to find a huge, decorative poster of politically historically correct brown wise men!
Someone else brought along their Brussels-Griffon dog and Monkey got to bro-down with one of her own kind!
Sarah and Cat were there! Apartment 3a had even chipped in and gotten a keg, which means one thing and one thing only...
...KEG STANDS! Hahaha. What started out as a joke quickly turned into reality as we all got drunk. Sarah went first! Homegirl got hoisted! Check out how perfectly vertical she is!
Slippage! Whoopise!
Hahahaha.
Here's Sarah safely back on the ground with "beer-went-up-my-nose" induced tears streaming down her face.
Now THAT'S a party!
After watching Sarah get beer in her hair, Gurj went with the safer "I'll just drink from the tap" approach.
Jenny!
Sasha!
Gurj spent the night playing "hard to get" with her favorite wise man.
She was dying to get her hands on his myrrh!
Monday, December 18th
On Monday night I admired some of the holiday ornaments Meredith made during her latest craft-obsession. Here's a star, a dog and the bead-ornament version of the two of us! Hahaha!
Tuesday, December 19th
I spent Tuesday night hiding from holiday parties trying to wrap up Zelda so that I could stop obsessing over it! "Oh, over the Bridge of Eldin? Thanks, Goron!"
