halloween 2006
Holy shit, I just realized that with this entry, I Keep a Diary now spans ten years of my life! (The very first post I ever did was Halloween 1996!). Wow, just wow. So here it is, the 421st photo-installment of my life!
Halloween 2006 was pretty chill. It always sneaks up on my and I'm forced to come up with a costume at the very last minute possible - this year was pretty much my laziest costume ever (as I'm sure you'll see down below)
Past Halloweens include:
Halloween 1996 - The Very First Post I ever Made (10 years ago!)
Halloween 1997 - My Senior Year in College
Halloween1998 - Modem Media
Halloween 1999 - Visiting Boston
Halloween 2001 - Halloween Model Party
Halloween 2002 - Halloween Model Party Again!
Halloween 2003 - In Bas Vegas, Essex!
Halloween 2004 - In San Francisco!
Halloween 2005 - Random Parties in NYC
On Friday night, we decided to have invite a few people over for a last minute housewarming / Halloween party at our awesome new apartment!
Check out our living room all cleaned up and ready to party!
Ratso and Roxy were climbing their cage in anticipation! Since getting them as pets, Meredith has sort of become obsessed with rats - which is which you probably saw this coming...
...she decided to be a rat for Halloween! Hahaha.
Check out the homemade cuteness. The costume's incomplete in this picture - her friend Mandy made her a rat-tail but hadn't brought it over yet.
We were dog-sitting Edie so we made sure we dressed her up in her best Bill Cosby sweater so she could be "Dog Cosby" for Halloween!
Usually, I wait until the day of Halloween and then I go to a costume store and concoct a costume based on whatever costume-dregs are left on the picked-clean shelves. When we decided to have a last-minute party on Friday (4 days before official Halloween), I was caught totally unprepared. I didn't feel like running to the costume store, so I instead decided to scrounge our apartment looking for things to use in my costume! I found some fake blood and decided to go as...
..."Somebody who just had a REALLY SERIOUS aneurysm!" (Worst Halloween costume EVER, I know!) But we told people that they should come in a costume and I at least had to pretend like I put in some effort after asking everyone else to dress up!)
And....we're ready to party! Hahaha.
A little after 11pm, people started showing up. First guest: David Kreitman!
Then Catrinel and Sarah Harrison showed up together as chimney sweeps! SO AWESOME!
Mandy and Rosie opted for the symbiotic team-costume route and showed up as a "Lady Bug" and "The Plant that the Lady Bug Lives On!" Amazing!
Here's Meredith showing off her "completed" costume after Mandy Mandy pinned-on the (sequined!) rat tail she'd made for Meredith!
Julia came as a NERD...
...complete with "Kick Me!" sign on her back. Hahah.
Sarah and Brandon showed up with...
...Monkey (who was also wearing a dog sweater!) and she and Edie were thick as (dog-wrestling) thieves for the rest of the night.
Sean and Ellen!
Aileen's wearing a white, turtleneck knit-sweater, tights, a huge silver cross necklace and a Wii hat - and for the life of me, I can't figure out what the heck her costume is! Anyone want to venture a guess?
Somehow I accidentally ended up getting pretty drunk and didn't take too many photos of the party. Boo!
A little after 1am, I acquiesced to party-crowd requests and broke out the old school XBox so that people could play Dance Dance Revolution!
Aileen and Meredith: THE DANCE OFF!
Dogs! Fighting tiny dogs! (In sweaters!)
At some point during the night, Sarah discover that if you hold a cigarette out in front on Monkey, she'll take it and just hold it in her mouth like she's a smoker! Hahahaha.
This photo makes me laugh so hard. I love how Monkey looks all stiff and fake like Sarah's holding some sort of "smoking dog" novelty toy.
Don't worry, we didn't actually light the cigarette. (Yet).
Saturday, October 28th
On Saturday night I went over to Apt 3a to meet Sarah and Brandon and then we headed over to...
...MisShapes to see The Horrors play...
...and to celebrate Geordon's birthday!
Don Hill's was WAY too crowded and sweaty, so I spend most of the night hiding in the little secret section drinking free booze (woo!). Ilirjana and Karen.
Mahsa and Jenny.
Sarah with Ryan from the (UK band) Littl'ans
Blood-spattered Jenny decided to make an ugly face...which ALWAYS spawns a series of Ugly Faces!
Sarah stepped up to the plate and delivered this pretty sweet "Zombie" ugly face!
Hehehe.
Mahsa. It's her first time so I'm gonna let her slide, but suffice it to say, she really needs to step her ugly-face game up.
Same goes for you, Rutner.
Ilirjana tried to make an ugly face but pretty much just ended up making a Pete Wentz face.
Ryan did pretty, pretty decent for his first time! Bravo!
My two favorite costumes of the night? This guy, who was like 6'5" tall and dressed like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. And...
...Sophia, who was dressed up as...er, Topless Minnie Mouse?
Tuesday, October 31st
Tuesday night was official Halloween, but I was tired and had to get up early the next morning, so I just ended up going over to Sarah and Brandon's to hang out! My buddy Alessandro was in town staying with Meredith and I because he was playing a few CMJ shows with his side-project band Modwheelmood (I consider that band his "side project band" just because the other band he's in is Nine Inch Nails! Hahahah), so he came along!
Sarah had all these creepy Lady Sov masks at her apartment that she got from work.
Me as Lady Sov = CREEPY!
Nine Inch Sov, UNPLUGGED!
I was trying to get another photo of Monkey "smoking" in this photo, but the cigarette fell out of her month (you can see it falling!) right when I snapped the picture.
Take two = Perfect! There's SO much amazing stuff going on in this photo: Brandon's doing a spot-on accidental impression of his brother, Monkey's smoking (a smoking dog!) and Alle's jamming out as Lady Sov. Hahaha. Happy Halloween (and Happy Official 10 Year Anniversary of this site! Whoa!)
