the june roundup
Yup, here they are: all the pics I took in June that didn't end up in an entry of their own.
Sunday, June 4th
I have no idea why I was up at 7:12am on a Sunday - but that's what the time-stamp on this photo says. Anyway, here's a sad, sad photo of a dead dove. Awww.
Monday, June 5th
Monday night I went to Karaoke Killed the Cat at Pianos for some 'roke with the one and only...
...Rina! (See what I mean about ONLY ever seeing her at karaoke? Seriously!)
Homegirl brought it!
Shandi and her tongue were there!
Friday, June 9th
Awww, yeah. This is the computer where all the I Keep a Diary magic happens! (Er, or at least this is what the set-up looked like back in June of 2006!). I was hard at work updating the site when Meredith convinced me to stop being a nerd and head up to Times Square (on a Friday night? Crazytown!) to go to...
...an indoor pool-party at the Hotel QT! (It's this really cute hotel that has a smallish indoor pool that's IN THE LOBBY and it even has a swim-up bar!). Here's Meredith making sexy-face in the water!
Nina!
Meredith's best friend Una (who I only ever see like once a year) even came out!
And here's me. I'm guessing that you can tell by our faces that the water in the pool wasn't exactly warm. I'd brought along my new waterproof camera (that Meredith got me as a gift for when I go scuba diving) and it allowed me go...
...underwater!
Nina and Meredith's boobies underwater!
Nina. Floatin' an' shit.
Meredith laughing underwater.
Nina does the doggy-paddle! Nina does the doggy-paddle!
Reflection of a pervert.
Hahahah.
Aileen and Una freezing their heinies off.
After the cold-ass pool, we headed into the hotel's nearby steam room to warm up.
Hahaha. The girls left me alone in the steam room and headed over to the sauna and when I caught up with them a few minutes later...
...I found these kind of shenanigans going on. So busted! (With a hand on a titty, no less!).
Hahaha.
Even the showers at the hotel are super-cool; they're all activated by pulling on wood handles hanging from chains!
That way you can pretend you're in the movie Flashdance while you wash off all the chlorine.
Saturday, June 10th
On Saturday afternoon, Grant and I went out to Brooklyn to meet Frank and Liz's newborn daughter, Lydia! Here she is with Papa Frank!
Awwwww!
Papa Frank and Grant!
Grant and Baby Lydia.
Lydia rocking out with her headphones. Congrats, Liz and Frank!
Saturday, June 24th
Fast forward two weeks later, and Grant and I went out for some lunch with Chris the Greek and Caesar, who were in town from Washington, DC and Italy respectively.
Chris was wearing some crazy, blinging watch!
How be-dazzled are you?
Later that night I stopped by Lorelei on my way out to wish J. Crowley a happy birthday (he and Jackie have since gotten hitched!)
After bidding J. a happy birthday, I headed crosstown over to MisShapes to meet up with my friend Michelle who was in town visiting from LA.
Michelle and I went to high school together and hadn't seen each other since we graduated in 1994!
What's up, TWELVE YEARS LATER! Jeez! (PS - If you look in the background behind Michelle, you can see Don Hill! Dude's gotta be in his late 50s (at least!) and he's still at his own club every night until closing!)
Michelle's friend Sarah was in town visiting from somewhere down south (Virginia? Carolina?).
Then we hit the dance floor! (Quinn, why are you yelling at Michelle's hair?)
Twelve years later and I finally got to snuggle up to Michelle's boobies.
Hahahaha. I'm not sure who had a hold of my camera to capture these two shots, but whomever you were, you are awesome!
Brother Lawrence DOES NOT approve of boob-nuzzling in public!
4:38am. Here we are covered in sweat from our dance floor work out, sharing a cab back east.
The girls dropped me off first before heading up to their hotel. Thanks for such a fun night, ladies. And Michelle, I hope to see you again before another twelve years sneak by!
Sunday, June 25th
I met my friend Jack through his older sister Sarah. Jack plays bass in a band called Sam Champion and asked me if I'd shoot press photos for them! I was happy to oblige so on Sunday morning I headed out DUMBO to meet the band at their practice space!
Sean, Jack, Ryan and Noah. I started out snapping a bunch of pics of the boys in front of a pile of their instruments.
We did a whole bunch of dark, and gloomy shots like these indoors, and then decided to head outdoors...
...to do some exploring around DUMBO. Here's the guys standing in front of some gated mansion that I think might actually have been the NYC governor's mansion way, way back in the day.
Down on the esplanade near the Brooklyn Bridge.
Standing in a doorway that was painted a crazy, bright shade of blue that I thought looked neat.
The next three are my faves. DUMBO is filled with so many cool, quirky buildings. Far.
Medium.
Close.
We ended the shoot at some tiny taco shop that was closed that had really great murals on its walls. Things were going great until...
...Sean took his shirt off and broke one of the cardinal rules of rock. ("A band member may go shirtless OR wear a quirky hat, never both.")
Later that night, Siege, Meredith, Sarah and Karen came over for some Sunday night Cranium! Wooooo!
Karen and Sarah drawing going head-to-head in a Sense-o-Sketch (having to draw with your eyes closed).
Meredith don't take NO SHIT during Cranium play.
Homegirl takes the game SERIOUSLY! Here she is charading her way into my heart.
Seriously, do you know anybody else who looks this cute when they're playing boardgames?
Victory!
Wednesday, June 28th
On Wednesday night I hung out with the Grizz.
And then I stayed at home and watched Saturday Night Fever, you know, so I could work on my moooooves. (Actually, now that I look at this pic I can't decide if it's really Saturday Night Fever or if it's the scene in Top Secret (aka - The best movie of all time) where they parody the main dance scene in Saturday Night Fever). Well, either way, I was working on my moves.
Thursday, June 29th
On Thursday night, Meredith bundled up at my place and made it clear she wasn't in the mood to go out. I tucked her around 2:30am...
...and then headed over to the basement of the Annex for a dance party...
that Sarah and Karen were DJing!
The place was PACKED!
Me and the Gurj!
Even Grant was there (suckling Josh's teat, no less)! This might not seem like a big deal to you, but that's because you don't know that Grant HATES going out to sweaty, smoky clubs late at night. In fact, the only time "Party Grant" ever makes an appearance is when there's a specific piece of ass he's trying to woo.
In this case, the biscuit in question belonged the very lovely Lizzie!
Lizzie had just packed up all her stuff and moved from Hawaii. She was in NYC for a few weeks visiting before heading down to South Carolina to live with her boyfriend.
Here's "Party Grant" making his way across the dance floor like a boner-guided missle! (PS - The last recorded appearance of "Party Grant" was at Lotus in December of 2002!)
Boyfriend, SCHMOYFRIEND!
If you're a fan of The Office (UK version) you might think that Grant's pulling a David Brent. But what he's actually doing is pointing at the reason why still he's out "in da club" dancing at 3am. Hahaha.
Gurj and Andrew giving Karen a lil' "lift."
Hahaha.
Happy June! Meeeeeeh!
