marryoke wedding spectacular
So Matt Coats, one of the guys that hosts the infamous weekly "Karaoke Killed the Cat" party at Pianos, and his girlfriend Kate decided to get married! Rather than have a regular wedding, they decided that Matt's karaoke co-host Chris "Goldteeth" Ehrman would get ordained and marry them...on stage...at Pianos...at 2am....with karaoke. So Marriage + Karaoke = MARRYOKE! Got all that? Ok, here we go!
Pianos is pretty crowded on a Friday night, but right around 2am, they cleared out the big room where bands usually play (Wedding Guests Only)! Here's the father of the bride walking Kate down the aisle...
...towards that MARRYOKE stage!
Here's Chris welcoming everyone to the ceremony...
...and here's everyone!
Amanda and Meredith (my marryoke wedding dates!)
Matt and Kate: The beaming bride-and-groom-to-be!
Here's Chris showing off the "A Wedding Ceremony to Remember" book he purchased off the interweb that he'd be using to conduct the ceremony! Hahah.
If Matt & Kate ever have kids, I can't wait until the day when they're old enough to use the internets and they end up finding this photo and they're like "Wait, THAT'S the guy that married you two?" Hahahah.
Before Chris began the actual ceremony, he announced that...
....Matt would be singing a karaoke song to his bride-to-be!
Awwwwww!
After the song was over, it was time to begin the official hitchin' process!
The rings!
I love both of their expressions in this photo! Do you? Yes!
Do you? Yes!
And here comes the part everyone's been waiting for (Matt's so excited he can barely contain himself)...
You may now kiss the bride!
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Coats!
Champagne time!
Then Kate threw her bouquet...
...into the crowd!
Then it was time for wedding cake!
Chocolatastic.
Matt & Kate cut up the cake and handed slices out into the audience......
...then Matt banged a gong to signal the start of post-ceremony karaoke reception party! Woooooo! First up?
Mr. Newlywed & The Reverend Goldteeth!
And like always, they fucking killed it.
Hahahah.
Then, afterwards, it was pretty much just like regular karaoke!
Except that there weren't any sad "you broke my heart" type songs because all of the guests pretty much wanted to sing romantic love ballads to celebrate the marriage!
Oh, and there was also body surfing.
Karaoke with a corsage!
This heartfelt crooner (with purple eyeliner, no less)...
...totally got the crowd (er, or at least Shandi and I) singing along.
Yay, Shandi!
Around 2:30am, bottles of champagne made the rounds through the crowd...
...to ensure that anyone who was thinking about singing some karaoke would have enough of a buzz-on to do so.
Amanda!
Drink it up!
Wooooo!
Matt doing a duet.
Kate and Shandi!
Shandi cried so much (with joy!) during the ceremony that she had awesome Alice Cooper-eyes from her running mascara. *Swoon!*
Then a seemingly-shy Kevin Meyers took the karaoke stage!
His jam: Pussy Control by Prince!
He started that song off all sultry and slow...
...slowly started building up to a crescendo...
...then he HIGH-KICKED that motherfucker into high gear! (Holy perfect 45-degree angle kick, Batman!)
Shandi likey!
"Aaaaaaaaah, pussy control!" (For those of you unfamiliar with the lyrics to this gem of a diddy, feel free to brush up.) Just when I thought that it couldn't get any funnier...
...Kevin took his shirt off...
...and proceeded to do the RUNNING MAN!
Hahahaha. Hands down, Kevin Myers stole the Pussy Control show.
Shandi on the mic.
Amanda and Chris hit the stage for a duet. They also started out all low-key and mellow...
...but they turned up the heat for the big chorus. Hahaha.
This girl was really cute.
She was wearing a sparkle-dress, arm-length gloves and a wig!
Show yer sparkle booty!
Serenading Mrs. Coats!
Then raging!
This guy was awesome. He went so over the top he actually threw himself to the floor!
I finally got called up around 3am. (And was lucky enough to have Chris on the stage helping out with some moves in the background).
More stage-diving!
Crowd surfing while singing? Amazing.
I think it's safe to say that by this time, the night had successfully turned into a full-scale karaoke riot.
Chessa and Chris.
Jazz hands! (If it doesn't hurt, you're not doing it right).
This tuxedoed gent was something else! He also put on a floor-writing performance, complete with...
...prompts for the audience (er, Shandi) to sing along to the chorus...
...and the incredible use of a tube of Chapstick as a stand-in for a cigarette while he played a very heartfelt air-guitar solo.
Timmy on the mic rose.
Everybody sang along...and slow-danced.
Hahahah.
Here's the wedding party / karaoke crowd as seemnfrom the stage at 4am when they announced the bar was closing and everybody had to leave!
Congrats Matt and Kate! May you have a long and happy life together and thanks for inviting me to the most fun wedding I've ever been to!
