merchant's impromtu karaoke

july 11, 2003

A few Friday's ago a bunch of us headed uptown to see our (wonderfully talented) friend, Frank Picarazzi play a gig Merchant's. Out of the blue, the evening took a very intersting turn...

Here's me with Sheff and Seth (who had just arrived in town on Sheff's brand, new boat. Which being 40' is prolly more appropriately called a yacht. Jesus.)

Liz giving Big Daddy some sugar.

Frank can pretty much play any song you can name on the vibes (and Antonio Di Lullo's the same on guitar) so it wasn't long before Frank started inviting people up for some impromtu karaoke accompaniment. Here's Amanda cutting loose.

So then all of a sudden, Tracy Morgan, who overheard the singing from the next room, came in and asked Frank if he could sing "Let's Get it On" by Al Green.

And then the next thing you know, they switch over to some Stevie Wonder songs and our man Seth Miller gets in the mix...

...only to take that mother over as Brian Fellows looks on in awe.

Then Big Daddy stepped up to back Seth (check out Tracy and his friend cheering on the white boys in the background).

Hahaha.

Afterwards, it was time for Seth to go solo with a little "New York State of Mind" action.

"Must like sushi, long walks on the beach...oh, and one mo' thing: shouldn't steal my stuff."
